I had my batteries disconnected yesterday for a couple of hours on my 2018 Cummins Ram. Upon reconnecting and trying to start it it says “push clutch and start button “. My truck is an automatic. There is also a little red light flashing on the dash It will not even engage the starter. The batteries are only 2 months old and are showing 12.4 volts.
Someone on FB said to get a PIN from the dealer. I got it and entered it into the radio and it says wrong code wrong code, wait 30 minutes.
Looks like I will have to wait until Monday now to get back with the dealer. Another dealer said that they needed the serial number off of the radio but the manager that would be able to give me the code wasn’t in today.

I would suggest starting with a battery charger for a few hours on each battery, and then using a toaster-style battery load tester like the $18 unit linked below.

I tried starting it while jumping it off from another vehicle, while the batteries were showing over 14 volts. If I remember correctly 14.7.

Not sure if you.were successful in startng but highly recommend NOT jumping a vehicle anymore. Meanwhile, don't just go get batteries but rather do a charge as mentioned above to get them to full state then load test, also as stated above. If load test good then check connections including grounds, cleaning and tightening. Also, do a test on alternator to verify it is putting out full charge voltage.

I don’t know what you mean “Not sure if you were successful…..July mount.” Two months ago my old batteries were load tested and it was determined I did have a bad one. That’s why my batteries are only two months old. I didn’t just go get batteries.

If you had to replace your batteries two months ago , did you test the charging system at that time ?

I would check cable connections wherever I see them.

- and + both

Maybe when you disconnected them , there was a loose connection somewhere, and you disturbed it. Causing an even worse connection.

Tried shifting ? Just for giggles ?

I didn't catch the autocorrect, fixed it.

I had a feeling it was autocorrect but I couldn’t figure it out.

I will check all connections today when I get back to the truck.
Yes, I have tried shifting it several times.
I’m sure it’s something with the antitheft system since the little red security light is flashing.

Update. I’ve tried two different scanners on my truck. The first one was an older one and it wouldn’t connect to my truck so I ordered an OBD link MX+ and went through the steps to pair it with my phone and I get a message saying “that it was connected to my phone but it couldn’t connect to my truck.
