This spot is located on the passenger side hood just above the fender... almost directly centered over the wheel. Paint is all bubbly.. not sure what could have caused it.. or what the process would be to get it straightened out.. fearing a full hood respray? 62a7cf5344ee09c0faca97b9aa3e34f2.jpg

Looks to me like from inside out. Hard to say for sure.

I would say a body shop will repaint the whole hood

60% of the time it works every time....

Hood is aluminum. Its corroding underneath. Sorry to say but most body shops will say it needs a hood

Its oxidation between the hood and the paint. It will have to be sanded down to bare metal in that area and painted.

What causes that? Is that just poor quality work or materials from the factory?

Hopefully you are still under warranty. That is a hood replacement for aluminum corrosion. This happened to me before my warranty ran out. A known issue with FCA.

I'd give it a try. FCA knows about this issue and maybe they may honor it? Worth a try, especially because the Sport hoods are about $900. Most of the time if I go in for an issue I like to say "I've seen it on the forums, ..." and they seem to take it a little more seriously. There used to be a FCA customer service rep roaming around here with the name "Ram cares".

My wife's 200 had that on the front edge. Corrosion warranty I believe was 100000 miles no time limit. Aluminum hood, same as the Rams. Had it inspected by Chrysler dealer. They took pics, sent to FCA/Chrysler. Would not replace the hood, just repaired tho original. Coming on those too. I would definitely check with Ram/FCA dealer and see what they will do

Update for you all.

Took it to the dealer, they took pictures and said they'd start the claim process for a new hood.

Few days later, got a call to come back to the dealer.. "New procedure" .. they are now required to sand down the area and take new pictures and submit it to FCA. They are now making determinations on whether to replace the hood, or make repairs.. whereas the service guy said before they were just blanket replacing hoods before.

He said mine was pretty boogered up and thinks I'll end up with a new hood.. but we'll see.
