I was thinking today and I like to think outside the box when it comes to my vehicles. But I was thinking what if someone bought the hughes kit, bolted it down then welded it to the intake? Because both the intake and the plate from hughes is aluminum why couldn't you as long as you were a decent welder? Because most intakes don't have plenum plates on the Fords and Chebbys. It would eliminate the possiblities of leaks as long and you had a good bead and payed attention to heat warpage and such. Just a thought. What do you guys think about this?

I think the heat/warpage factor and a good bean would take some time. When all you need to do is bolt it down to specs and call it a day.

True it was just a thought. But even with the hughes kit that gasket could still give after awhile granted it is unlikly but when I fix something I was something perment. As long as you did tack welds all the way around to keep the heat low I don't see how it would hurt.

Easy peazy with a TIG

Correct. Down at work our Millermatic is set up for aluminum somehow. It did a nie job on my exhaust. But if someone starting buying hughes kits and had people send there intake in to them, did the kegger mod and welded that on it would be a nice cheap alternative to the F1.

That would be REALLY hard as your kegger is cast and the plate is not. I can do cast with a good TIG but to weld cast to plate, well cant say as I even tried before. But it dose bring up a question I have always wanted to ask.... Why in the nine hells did they put the plate there to begin with?????
