You thing ram is the only one having issues and ford/gm are so much better guess again.. We have 2 new fords at work and right off the lot they had issues and both had to have computers changed, among other issues they have been having. The new GM we have is not much better and it is a pig on fuel and the most gutless truck i have ever drove. All manufacturors have issues.

Agreed. Numerous manufacturers have long lists of recalls and TSB's to take care of. The focus for the last several years is getting QUANTITY in circulation, not quality.

Scares the $hit out of me, thinking about if/when I have a lifter/cam issue on my '15.

She's been a great vehicle over the years, got her with 28k miles 7 years ago tomorrow. On the cusp of 193k as I write this.

Replaced a headlamp switch, both front hubs, rear axle bearings and seals, esim, fuel pump (pump was good, level sensor not so much). Other than that, 2 sets of brakes, 2 front rotors (my stupidity there). Of course, trans service, 2x diff service, brake fluid, coolant, oil changes every 10k, lubegard a couple times, using 5w-30 amd Fram FE2 filter for my last few changes.

If it decides to drop a deuce, I will have to suck it up and fix it. I certainly can't afford to pay someone else to do it. Plus, I know I can count on all of you awesome fellow Rammers for instruction and encouragement.

193K, that's reasonable mileage for what you have listed. Glad yours has treated you well overall.

Well, I've worked on more than one aircraft engine both Continental and Lycoming and all I can say is than goodness vehicles engines aren't built the same. Most aircraft engines have an overhaul recommendation at 2000 hours. Using 2000 hours @ 60 mph would be about 120,000 miles. Most modern vehicle engines, properly serviced, can go double or triple that time.
Clearances in aircraft engines are nowhere as tight as vehicle engines.

I'm not familiar with smaller aerospace companies, but the market leaders like GE Aerospace, Lockheed, Raytheon, and Pratt & Whitney tolerances for commercial and military aircraft engines (within 0.001 and 0.010 of an inch). Since tolerances degrade over time, it's on the airframe to maintain those systems. As you know, Boeing did not do a great job at maintenance and it's crushing them across the board.

When it comes to building the engine, you won't pass testing without remaining within thermal tolerances for example - similar to cars but with more precision being required. And most aircraft engines have sensors (to support their digital twin), and those engine builders use machine learning to predict optimal service schedules.

I was at Skunk Works and saw the impact of being outside of a tolerance of 0.010 for one application.

From little i know, everything flight related has to be logged and rebuilt, replaced, or Maintenace'd according to hours.

Right, nothing can run optimally without maintenance or repair.

i watch so much youtube that stupid stuff sticks lol. like, most anything is worthless with out flight logs and log books. i retain bits and pieces of useless info. never enough to argue a topic. but enough to step in and be like hey guys, im cool too.

Seems that you are trying to compare a turbine aircraft engine to an automotive piston engine. That is like comparing apples to oranges.

I wish people got that concept regarding their automobiles. I just changed the oil and filter on one of my customer's "Special Interest" cars. It is a 2002 Lexus SC430. Tell me about it. I've had to replace the fuel pumps in my push mower and Kubota tractor because I don't use them enough. I started putting in fuel stabilizer in there. But now, I need to change the tires on the tractor because they dry rotted in the barn. It's a used tractor sure, but shheeeeeeeesh. I spend more money fixing it than I do using it.

Nah, the one dude said aircraft engines aren't built with more precision than automative engines. So then I said, nah bro, that's foolishness. But yeah, we're comparing the reliability of a Hemi engine to a F119 jet engine. It's egregious if not shameful.

The tolerance doesn't really mean anything unless we know what it's on. Off by .01 on a 10ft long weldment, landing gear gusset, tire OD, etc no one will even notice. Off by .01 in a bore where you need to press fit a bearing? That's a monumental mistake, being that far off was either operator error or broken/heavily worn tooling.

"Tight" tolerances are subjective.

For RAM we'll say:
- Powered by Stellantis' space-age, military grade, ultra-precise tolerances, with negligible deviation permitted across the cam lobes and lifter interface, ensuring optimal valve timing and lift precision - our engineering teams guarantee that your lifters will never fail.

You're a funny guy Wild One.... There are plenty, PLENTY of people that have been burned by RAM/Dodge/Chrysler/Fiat. Cam failures alone could fill a warehouse. The next warehouse over, you could stack UConnects to the ceiling and run out of room pretty quickly. Next warehouse over, well, you'd need about 10 next warehouses to stack all the Pentastar 3.6L issues. Cams/lifters/oil filter/cooler adapters by the train load. These forums don't exist for people to come sing praises (although it's nice to see once in a while).
You read too many forums, the real world truth is Ram has no more issues than Ford GM Toyota or Nissan. I've had 6 1500 Rams since 2009 and put over 100-k on every one with nothing more than oil changes and normal maintenance and usually three sets of tires before training in. I've had two Chrysler 300 and two jeep grand cherokee's with the 3.6 Pentastar engine and just like the 5.7 Rams have had zero issues with the vehicle 's. I know of people with other brand vehicles that sond like your issues. There's going to be someone that has ssues with any brand made. But it is not the norm.

I've had 6 1500 Rams since 2009 and put over 100-k on every one with nothing more than oil changes and normal maintenance and usually three sets of tires before training in. I've had two Chrysler 300 and two jeep grand cherokee's with the 3.6 Pentastar engine and just like the 5.7 Rams have had zero issues with the vehicle 's. Thanks for letting me know the "real world truth", I wasn't aware. I only keep up with the fake world truth.

All manufacturers have flaws. That's a given. There are plenty of Pentastar failures to commensurate my post.

Besides, we can't talk about the 3.6 on this post, or somebody will get upset. This is a HEMI post and only HEMI posts are allowed. :D
