Dunno if this really applies as "mine" since the county owns it, but since late April I've been driving a 2008 Ram 1500 4.7 4x4 Quadcab truck after my 2004 F-150 5.4L lost reverse and was deemed uneconomical to repair at its age and mileage.
I had to hastily swap all of the equipment I needed from the Ford to the Dodge. 100 gallon fuel tank, air compressor, 50 gallon oil recovery tank, tool boxes, and light bar all were swapped.
Almost fully outfitted:
I did have to install an Add-A-Leaf setup as the payload left me with about 1/2" clearance from the bump stop. This truck has the tow package, but I guess the spring pack just wasn't up for all of that extra weight. With the Add-A-Leaf, I'm about back to stock ride height and can still manage hauling trailers occasionally without just plainly bottoming out the suspension.
Some might cry heresy, but I found the base vinyl front bench seat to be lacking compared to the Ford's setup. Both were vinyl, perfect for work trucks, but I was missing my fold down console arm rest with the cupholders. Sounds silly, but handy for basic storage. The seats were also notably harder and not great for spending a lot of time in. Luckily for me, another department pulled a dumb move and totaled a 2021 Ram 2500. Now arguably that's a waste, except if you utilize the remaining value of the parts, perhaps not the worst thing.
5th Gen Tradesman manual seats swapped quite smoothly into this truck.
Those seats are considerably more comfortable and supportive, plus I got my flip down console again.
So far I've driven this truck about 10K since then. It's closing in on only 138K, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll have it. Department wise, we're the third department to have it as it's been shuffled around and replaced elsewhere by newer trucks. Management has agreed a heavier duty truck is in order in the coming future for what I need, whenever that is. Until then, this Ram will keep rolling Monday through Friday plus on-call to all my remote site visits and services.
