Took a 3 hour cruise to the west side of Michigan. Had a good time mini Family reunion for 5 days. Had the truck in the "alternate trailer height" mode for loading. Corrected before heading down the road. Going to need front shocks soon I think at almost 75K. Bilstein 5100's and a new steering stabilizer???IMG_5117.jpg

Bought a new travel trailer. Not a huge one, 7,000 lbs loaded, but still glad I got rid of that dumb transmission oil line thermostat for a billionth of a percent increase in fuel mileage for the EPA.

Pulling today in 91 degree F heat, trans oil EVIC temp reading was 165 degrees F. Maybe my 66RFE trans will live? It's got Red Line +C ATF trans oil, synthetic media filters in it. Didn't get around to replacing the valve body - maybe the Red Line oil will save it?

Well, it’s time to tackle this repair I’ve been putting off.

HVAC system has a mind if it’s own lately. I’ve replaced the 3 blend door actuators that are easy to access, as well as the control module, but no luck.

Tomorrow the dash is coming out so I can replace the last blend door actuator located between the heater box and the firewall.

Lot of work to replace a $15 part.
Tonight, I’m mentally preparing over a few beers, cheers .

On my 16, which is my road trip truck, installed new core 4x4 control arms in the rear, new adjustable panhard bar, installed new bilstein 5100s in the rear.

Tomorrow work is a transmission service with a new mopar pan and mopar 8&9 speed fluid also installing chaulk04 fix for transmission and an last an oil change with new redline 5w30 and a RP 20-820 filter.

The front bilstein 6112s will have to wait as the front end alignment guy cannot get to me for several weeks.

Lots of maintenance on the 16, just turned 73,000 miles.

Finished last week. Did the cam and lifter job on my 2015. Fun job. Looks hard but not to bad. Only part that was hard is I'm 63. Built a few motors in my day but it's been awhile. Just time consuming. Started out as I was losing power then got the code for number 5 cylinder. Lifter was froze and cam was wore out. Went with a Melling cam and OEM lifters. Put in a new VVT and cleaned out what I could. Put a few hundred miles on it so far. Harmonic balancer is different on a Hemi. Get the right puller and installer made it easier.

Waiting on a second set of hands to get here before I pull the dash. Not fun, but at least my hands are clean.

Installed the cabin air filter kit.

It's easy they said. HA..... Yeah, if you are a contortionist. Easy to do, not so easy to get at.

Replaced my drivers side seat cushion and cover. The worst part was the back 2 seat bolts. Those were worse to loosen than any suspension parts I replaced . Regular cab so not much room to rotate the ratchet. Thankfully the electric impact made short work of it once I bought some metrics impact sockets.

I haven't tried it yet but the right side looks like a pain to reach.

So I searched the forum for a thread like this and didn't find anything. I figured it would be fun to have a thread that everyone can watch what everyone is doing each week.

This week I put on Steelcraft nerf bars, and right now I'm getting the permaplating put on the truck. This way it gets a real good bath.
Washed & waxed, long overdue, everytime I planned on doing it had rain in the forecast. Actually going to rain later today but I couldn’t wait any longer & happy to get a coat of wax on my truck. First time washing my new wheels, thought they might be easier than Fuel vapors I had but not so much.

Bought a 2014 Tradesman used a month ago…had 2 piece bumper that didn’t match and a grill not to my liking. Bushwhacker flares …. Nothing against them just not the look I am going for.
Changed to 1 piece sport style bumper. Swapped the EVIC to the upgraded one. Switched the 5” radio to the 8.4 Uconnect. No CarPlay though the radio alone was $1000 alone used.

New Floor mats.

Added steering wheel controls. That was major convenience upgrade.

Added the cabin filter. Hood light and floor convenience lights If you buy a lower trim you’re not entitled to light and clean air? WTF Dodge?

Putting on some Clazio seats the rears are done. Adding a pair of power running boards I found for $300. They are ancient Bestop with trigger wires. They have been a bear but supposedly my friend figured out the wiring today. One of the trigger wires was bad. Will put the front covers on when he is done messing around under there.

Same with the rear bumper. Didn’t match and previous guy had dual exhaust and they were coming out the side? Gotta get them coming out the back now.

New taillights and 3rd brake/cabin light.

I bought flares but they don’t fit now that I have a different bumper are there different flares for a sport bumper? If not I may leave them off.

Added power mirrors with turn signal. As with the EVIC, AlphaOBD got the turn signal working but I can’t figure out how to get them to fold. I followed the known codes on this forum but they still won’t fold in even with the new switch.

Now just need some black rims and a hard Tri fold cover and I think I’m done. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

What covers did you go with? I will need to change my leather seat in the future and have this one locked down. But is there better out there? I leave in Sweden, so eBay is easy for me

I have cloth seats so I just picked one of the many on ebay. They all looked similar. For the foam I purchased from a place called the seat shop. Their durofoam product is nice and firm.

Front and rear Diff Fluid change... ezpeez.
Used the wand magnet in the rear and got some junk out but both fluids were almost like new @ 65,200 miles.

BTW, some one stole or didn't replace or I never had: a front skid plate.
Bought truck used @ 25K so I doubt the front fluid was ever replaced, I just don't have a front skid plate on a 4x4? I'm not concerned about it, i don't "off road" much besides gravel roads.
