The lightning bolt is the fly-by-wire TB error with the Electronic Throttle Control system. i cant tell you how to fix it though. Got a code reader? I have read elsewhere that cleaning your throttle body has fixed that code for other people.

Did a quick Google search, found it could be that, or a whack of other things. Including lose battery cables. Anyway. Shut it down and fired up again and seems to be fine. Check engine lights still on. I did leave my phone charger plugged in all night. Thought maybe that had something to son with it. We will see.

That light is for your TPSA. More than likely it's gone bad, the truck starts to die because it's not communicating with the computer and is not staying open enough to make the right amount of air/fuel mixture.

Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS), Throttle Body (TB) or battery. Pull the code and that will give you a place to start. If you don't have a code reader you can do the "key dance", turn the key on-off, on-off, on without starting the truck and the code will be displayed in the odometer.

Sorry about the vague title. Was in a rush sitting on the side of the road panicking a little bit.

Idk if it works on the 3rd gens, but on the 2nd gens you can turn the key to the ON position and back to OFF 3 times with 3rd time the key stops in the ON position and it'll read the code out where the mileage shows up.

It works. P0405, p0344, p0652, and p2127. That's more than expected.

P0405 = EGR
P0344 = Camshaft Sensor
P0652 = 5V Fault
P2127 = Accelerator Pedal Sensor

Was it surging when driving? I never had the TBPS light come on, but when I would have a hard stop it would shut off. It would start back up, but it was a never ending story, I replaced my EGR and rest my computer and it's been good ever since.

With all of those codes my guess would be you have a short in one of the sensors (EGR?), in a wiring harness or in the TIPM.

Looked under hood, negative battery terminal was really corroded. So cleaned them up went for a drive and check engine light came back on when I stomped on it. Checked codes again and it's just the 0405 one now. So egr. I'll check them again after I drive it longer. How hard is it to replace the egr?

Was it surging when driving? .

I did notice the others day when I had cruise on, the rpm gauge would surge up about 300 rpm, but the speed would remain constant. Was actually gonna ask about that and forgot.
When I pulled over this morning after it lost power it was surging quite a bit when I was idling there. Before I restarted it.

Sounds like an EGR issue, what's your mileage? I was going to pull mine apart and clean it, but I opted to just replace.

165000km. I've just had it for 2 months or so. I looked up how to replace it, seems pretty easy

I used an egr from vatozone and it was on for 2 years without issue. It was $45. Not sure how much the oem valve is. Spray bolts with wd40 or something similar. One of mine broke. Luckily is was one that held the tube to the valve. Not the one that goes into the head.
