He everyone,

I wanted to get y'alls opinion on something. About two weeks ago (3/12) I called a local off road and accessories shop and put a deposit down for a lift kit. They scheduled me for Friday 3/22. I received a phone call on 3/21 at 5:22pm from the shop and I was told that I was not going to be able to get my lift installed Friday because they did not receive all of the parts to the lift... The guy on the phone told me that he was going to call Rough Country first thing in the morning and then give me a call asap. Of course I was bummed out and said ok cool no problem. Next day came and no phone call in the morning. I called after lunch and asked if there was any update to the situation... I was told they are waiting to hear back from RC and that they would call me asap. Saturday came and went... Sunday they were closed. Monday morning (today) I called around 11:30 on my lunch break. Guy tells me "oh such and such is on lunch break and he is the one you dealt with... I'll let him know you called and have him give you a call in 30 minutes or so..." And here I am now, it's past 2:00pm and no phone call.

I'm contemplating weather or not to call them and ask for my deposit back and go somewhere else.

Also, I am having a hard time believing that RC sent an incomplete kit. I think they just forgot to order the damn kit and are blaming the manufacture... I don't know man but this has got me bummed LOL. So ready for my lift!!!

Am I being impatient??? or what the hell man!?!?!

Sorry I just had to tell somebody haha. My old lady couldn't care less...

You're probably right! Now they're making it worse and not calling you back.

If you get a hold of them control the conversation. Tell them straight away that you're not happy with the service you've been given BEFORE the install and that you're afraid it may reflect what to expect AFTER the install. Tell them what you think has happened.

I've been in sales a long time and being honest is the BEST policy. It'll come back to bite you in the ass if you're not. The way I look at it is, we ALL make mistakes, it's how you correct them that counts!

I agree with Chewy. They certainly are not starting off too well by not being responsive. My experience is usually when this type of thing happens it doesn't get any better.

As a dealer for many different manufacturers, it can be tough on the shop because they dont always have control if they are shipped an incomplete kit or if the part is on backorder. They should have called you back when they said they would, but I dont thikn I would jump on their back claiming that they did not even order the part.

If you want to get them fired up in a polite way, tell them that another local shop has the kit in stock, and can do the install for you tomorrow. That will get them to jump on the phone and do whatever needs to be done to get the parts you need ASAP. I just think that is a better approach then calling them up all upset and claiming that they lied about ordering the parts.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Update:
About an hour after posting this thread I got a call back from the shop and the guy was empathetic with me. He said parts will be in tomorrow evening and I can drop my truck off tomorrow or Wednesday morning.

Crisis averted :)

Thanks again guys.

Glad it worked out! I don't blamed you for being concerned. My department took a report yesterday from a guy how put down a deposit on a set of tires and was given the runaround like you described. Finally the owner just told him that he had already spent his deposit, couldn't get the tires and was sorry. He's going to jail shortly. The bad thing is I put the same guy in jail several years ago for basically the same thing. I can't believe that in a town the size of ours, someone gave him a deposit with his reputation.
