I just picked up a 2014 Outdoorsman that stickered at $47,500 and the final price after rebates ($3,500- lease, not purchase) was $36,000. If it would have been a purchase there were another $1,500 in rebates.

I have a 2014 Express msrp for $41000 got it for $33000 (NC). I used USAA for the discounts and then a pre approval through Navy Fed.

2014 Tradesman 4x2 HEMI Crew Cab. MSRP was about 34k on sticker and I got $3500 incentive off. I couldn't talk them down any more on the truck so I talked them up on my trade. But I did buy at the end of January so they were looking to move their remaining 13's and not dealing on the 14's.

I got my CC Sport 4x4 for a touch over $37000. It had been a dealer demo and had 4k on it already. It's got basically everything it, plus they gave me a hell of a deal for my trade

I am truly surprised that being a Canuck I paid what a lot of Americans paid for their truck. 2014 Sport rcsb Hemi 4x4 listed at a hair over 47, I paid them 37.5 + 5k give or take on add ons ie MagnaFlow cutback fibreglass colour matched tonneau, steps, LineX, bug deflector etc etc. Paid 42K in cash (well check actually) and drove the most beautiful truck on earth home.

Dealer hold back, invoice, incentives, rebates and every other "phrase of the month" are all just things to confuse buyers and make them think they are getting a good deal. And, from reading this thread, it's obvious that it works. Forget all that fluff.... it's just smoke and mirrors BS. Do you really think there is some magical thing that happens at the end of the month? No, the dealer will still be plenty happy to sell you the truck on the 2nd of the next month for the same price.

The best deal you'll find is going through Costco auto buying program and possibly the USAA that someone mentioned. You should be paying somewhere around 80% of MSRP for the Ram brand.

There's nothing confusing about any of those phrases...they're all valid tools at everyone's disposal for buying a new vehicle.
Dealer holdback is generally 3% of invoice.
Invoice price should always be your starting point for negotiations. If you buy for 1% either way of invoice price that's a damn good deal.
Make sure your incentives or rebates are factored in after you negotiate the selling price.
Pretty simple...and if you hit around those numbers you in fact did get a good deal.

Your "good deal" of 80% ? If you like it then I love it. I bought mine for 3% below invoice plus rebates....came in at about 70%. My out the door price including TT&L was less than your 80% number.

To add to Unbroken : Also do not even speak about your trade until you get the price of the truck where you are happy. Dealers like to get the water as muddy as possible while talking money. Don't let them, each transaction is seperate. And of course do your homework for the true value of both the new truck and trade and be will ing to walk away if its not right. One final note, never allow the salesman to base the talks on "how much do you want to pay a month?"

indeed on the 2 less doors but I normally expect to pay much and I mean much more than USA buyers, I know some vehicles cost 10K more here for the exact same vehicle in the States.:favorites13:

This thread is making me feel like I paid a lot for my truck... 2013 QC 4x2 express with premium cluster backup camera locking tailgate etc. basically everything a express can come with besides leather sticker was 34k I believe. I had the truck down to 28k and then added the extended warranty, lowjack, and after taxes it was about 33k so basically sticker lol

That's not the best deal, but the lower the sticker the less room to move right..

My Black Express stickered at $38K something or other. They took $9K off. I thought that was fair.

Just finished my 2014 2500 Trades CC with 6.4 hemi. Sticker $44,060. Paid like $35,500 +TTL. Not as good as some but I feel it was fair since they had to buy it from another dealer. Nothing available I wanted locally.

1% under Invoice, plus rebates that were available, at the time.

Honestly, though, didn't really care about the price.
I wanted it.

Learned a very long time ago, it really does not matter what you pay for something. Seriously, price is about the least important aspect of owning something.

If you love it and enjoy it, during the entire time of ownership, the price, whatever that price may have been, was good.

If you hate it, and are glad to be rid of it, when it's gone, than the price paid, no matter how low, was not good.

My dad is going to take delivery of a 14 Crew cab hemi, blue pearlcoat crew cab Laramie. pretty loaded. I think sticker is around 51k or so. Dealer is knocking off 8k, giving him a good deal on his trade, plus 0% of 75 months and no payments for 3 months.

Not bad i think
