When Is It Ok To Change To Synthetic?

I run Mobil 1, 0/w 40. I wouldn't do it but its good for 10,000 miles.

Right! Because there is no oil made which can contain but a certain amount of contamination, either chemical from combustion or debris.

I blew up a riding lawnmower engine, and the walk behind both in the same month, because I didn't change the oil. Since then, none of my vehicles have gone 5k without a proper oil change. Synthetic in the RAM.

P.S. Small equipment changed every spring.

5K on synthetic oil wowzers, back in the late 70's we could run just about any major brand of dino oil & Purolator or Fram oil filters for 3000-3500 miles...

Nah! I just do 1/4 acre these days.... down from the 2.54 I had before, and I had a Cub Cadet 54 inch Zero turn for that property.... 21HP
