Looking to add Aux switches. Not sure if I want to replace the factory switch module with aux switches or add new ones. Anybody have experience with either of these kits?? Besides the fact that I lose the heated seat and heated steering wheel controls and have to go into the radio to turn them on/off, any other reasons to keep or not to keep the factory setup?

Looking at these

I like factory looks so i would go with the 4th gen set. I dont think having to go into the radio for the heating options is such a PITA to be honest. Just need to retrain yourself lol

Sw 1 is behind grill pods, sw2 is tow hook cover flush mount, sw3 is led bed light strips.....2 more to go..lol
Not to mention a hell of a lot cheaper than carid setup

I don’t have either set up, but personally, I like the OE look of the 4th Gen set up. Eventually, I’m going to add them to my truck.

Either of your choices are great so you really can’t go wrong.

I didn’t go with the 4th gen setup because I have a lot of options on my truck and didn’t have the open spaces and I’m not willing to eliminate them.

I went with the AEV switchpod myself, it’s in a perfect location for me and flows well with the center dash.

The rockers are only $6 and there’s many to chose from and the text is customizable.

JB, where did you find rockers for $6? I just paid $14.50 for Contura switches?

This is what the fully loaded switch panel looks like on my sport. i have heated/cooled seats, plus heated steering wheel. I also have 4x4 controls, and the trailer brake. There is an open spot on the top row I wish I could use.

I won't give up anything because I use them all. It's about $200 for an AEV pod and 6 new switches- like what JB1 posted. I think it looks pretty nice, and almost stock looking.

for half the price of that linked sPOD 700, you could get a RAM specific AEV pod and 6 switches

The only difference with the Aux setup is you need to go into the touchscreen to control the heated seats and heated steering wheel. You are not giving up any of the top row of buttons.

Those don't come with any type of relays or harness--correct? That's a build it yourself thing

Yes that is correct it's a build yourself thing and may not be for everyone. However most light bars come with a relay harness so you can use that or get all fancy and put everything in a power distribution box like I did.

There are sellers on ebay selling pre wired relay boxes

Heres one with 5 relays

Thanks for the responses. Thinking I may stay with the factory look. Still to cold around here to really do any work yet so I can still change my mind a few times.

That middle switch is reserved for the exhaust brake on the HD Cummins trucks. That's the only other thing they offer in that position. Other then that it's just a dummy plug.

Correct.....my panel has the exhaust brake switch and all the options. Did anything ever go to the left of the heated seat switch in the blank next to the trailer brake controller?

I really wish you could customize those. I realize they have specific functions on some vehicles, but not every vehicle has the same options.
