I have found 3 Rams.

#1 2018 Big Horn V6 - 17,000 miles - $28K

#2 2020 BIG HORN V6 etorq - lvl 2 equipment - $38k

#3 2020 Laramie V6 etorq - Alpine sound - $41k

I don't care for the interior color of the 2018, but that's a lot of savings. Was 2018 a good year for Ram?
I feel like if I don't get the used truck, I might as well get the Laramie.

I'd buy the 2020 Laramie, but I'm biased. I traded in a 2017 Rebel for my 2020 Laramie and I have no regrets about it. The 5th gens are so much better than the 4th gens IMHO.

I have the exact opposite opinion, but the 5th gens are okay imo. i’m extremely biased towards my 4th gen, just waiting for my 2020 Limited to arrive.

I vote no on all of them because there's no V8. 6 cylinder is a killer on resale of full size trucks. Full size truck buyers expect full size engines.

Certain options are virtually meaningless for resale, but engine size is not one of them.

I chose the 3.6L eTorque on my 2020 Limited because i don’t feel like dealing with every single issue the Hemi is known for. That is the only reason i didn’t go with the Hemi.

What’s your budget, intended usage and length of time you intend to keep it?

I know trucks are overpriced, but aren't there deep discounts now. 19% Off sticker.
Do you think I can get better?

I am not concerned with resale value as I hope to keep it 10 years. This is my everyday ride, so gas milage matters to me.
Thanks for the input.

Id wait and get a V8 if you can, I'm sure the V6 with upgraded etorque could be upgraded to a V8?

I would go with the larimie or limited if you find one in your price range. I would want top of the line trim in an everyday driver just for comfort factor. My bighorn has everything I could ever want but the Larimie and Limited was out of my price range.

Are we seriously going to bring political opinion into a discussion about which truck is the best option? Sweet Jesus....

No, we are not.

THANK YOU! Really do appreciate your efforts around here.

If you care to or have some extra time, there are some in this thread as well (last couple of pages mostly):

https://www.ramforum.com/threads/class-action-lawsuit-against-california-rip-off-sales-tax.161357/

Politics completely derailed that thread, and I really wanted to know more information about that saga but now it's dead in the water.

It doesn’t matter because you got what you got but the Hemi’s a good motor. Trying not to run the MDS as much, keeping your idling down to a minimum, not cheaping out with dealer-stock oil and filter, and doing your oil changes long before 8, 9000 miles, is what’ll drastically minimize your chances of the known Hemi failures. A lot of people here run even a heavier weight oil to minimize it even more.

V6 on small truck, GTG. On a full size, um, not too fond of that. Not really sure how heavy our Rams are but never been a fan of full size trucks with small engines. I guess it is to each their own and what price you want to pay.
It is your choice, do what you feel you need to do and don't look back.

Well if you want the used v6...i would tell them your interested...but for $25k. I would push them hard on the used one...because you can get a newer one.
