I've never had a white vehicle before so I'm curious as well. I saw Meguiars White Wax at the store the other day, but it felt gimmicky so hopefully somebody chimes in.

I use 3M micro finishing polish with a foam pad on my variable speed buffer. I have done my work truck a couple of times and everyone says it looks brand new. I'm going to do it on my new 05 I just bought if I get some free time.

A shiny one
White doesn't really shine in my opinion, it kind of glows when well-cared-for.

Polishing is the most important step here, either by hand of with a machine. Removing swirls/scratches that dull the finish is the key making paint shine.

From there, you can seal/glaze/wax as you wish for protection.

I would take Nicks advice. I use all Adams stuff and my white ram looks great. I feel like the other stuff tends to be gimmicky like you said. I trust proven products and can vouch for almost anything that Adams sells.

The key to making white shine or glow is cleanliness!

Gotta keep all the contaminants off the paint!
White almost always looks 'clean' even with a layer of water spots and neglect on it.
But man, you clay bar off all that crap and seal / polish it and HOLY CRAP.

I don't use Adams products, but everyone has their own opinions.
I just tried something else first, and have a lot of it, so I'm sticking with it!

I do recommend a high quality sealant and wax (not something from PepBoys / Autozone).
Yes, a generic wax is still WAY better than nothing, but it's got nothing on a quality product (Like Adam's, Chemical Guys etc)

First Time I Clay'd and Waxed:

Crap low gloss finish on the new truck:

Megs white wax is a horrible product! It is a gimmick & probably one of the worst to come from them. White oil comes to mind.
Clean paint like the others have said is key. I personally like Collinite 845 on top of a clean surface.

My last 2 trucks have been white and I have a detail shop. One thing I like to do is first wash the truck and then I use a mild acidic mixture with water to wipe the vehicle down to remove all the old waxes and get the paint very clean. Zaino reccomends washing with Dawn dish soap for this purpose. Then a rinse with RO water . I like to use Zaino All In one wax for a shine that lasts over a year. If you want to build it even deeper then regular Zaino is the way to go if you have the time.

white reflects colors while black absorbs it. white doesnt shine but it reflects. white is always shiny unless fully covered in dirt. physics.

but i jsut wash mine and it shines very good like, make sure to keep wax on it and use a detailer(turtle wax spray detailer) and it will stay shiny for ever. GO WHITE

Hey guys I have had a mobile detailing business now for 10 year and the easiest way to avoid swirls..is to always wash your truck with high quality wash mitts, and never wash in circles...always back and forth and always use the two bucket method when washing.

Also never over wash your truck..alot of your swirl marks are what I call love swirls..always washing your truck every 3 or 4 days is kinda over kill, I keep my vehicles washed about once every 2 weeks as long as the weather has been fairly nice and not excessively dirty.

Also please avoid the colored waxes..bunch of junk!

Also ALso Also...remember 100% carnuba waxes do nothing to protect your paint..they are only to make it pop, be deeper and more vibrant in color.

White is a really nice color when taken care of. Making sure the paint is decontaminated more often than other colors is in part what will help you keep that glow. Other colors show other things better--IE Swirl Marks, Water Spots, etc.

Detailing Clay will help remove the settled contamination like rail dust, overspray, pollution that didn't come off during the wash. The flip side of that is keeping good surface protection on your truck so that it's harder for the paint to become contaminated.

As others already have mentioned, there are more than a few companies out there selling products to take care of your truck. At least two here Sponsor this board and offer up advice and knowledge. It comes down to where you feel comfortable spending your money after doing the proper research.

If you were to look at some of the new Surf City Professional line, for now, I would recommend the Extreme Suds Balanced Wash when you're in your driveway washing, and Hydro-Seal for protection. The line is new-ish and will have new products coming out at a pretty nice pace. Here is a link to the SCGPro Line. You may see some familiar faces in the Free Instructional Videos also. ;)
