After our latest storm, I remembered why I have a posi-trac differential on my Gen 2 truck. My 18 tradesman dosen't have it. Have any of you researched this option, if so who did you get to do the work and about what did it cost?

Not for posi, but I had Trutrac installed a month ago. $1200 out of the door, parts and labor. Local shop did it for me.
I have inquired two RAM delaerships about OEM anti-slip install and saw deer in headlight look in their faces.

I do my own differential work, usually lockers since I’m into off road use mainly. So I’m no help on labor rates. For an LSD, I’d only consider a TruTrac helical gear unit.

No clutches, no lunchbox lockers, etc.

I’m a bit surprised that a 2018 doesn’t have effective traction control. Most modern vehicles it’s adequate for the task. Certainly more intrusive than a mechanical LSD though.

Go with tru-trac all the way, check with off-road ,4x4 shops to do the install. Prices will vary by location , it its about 600 for the trutrac plus labor. Now would also be the time to consider a gear swap.

I have the factory LSD but 3.21 gearing

Way way down on the list of mods is to get a used 3.92 setup (front and rear), load the rear up with a TruTrac and replace both of my 3.21 diffs.

Or maybe just buy a new truck lol

This is just my dime (Canada no longer uses pennies) Most transmission shops are full driveline shops and typically do more differential work than dealerships or even 4x4 shops. As in a tranny shop might have 1-2 builders and 2-4 R&R guys that have been working on drivelines for 15-30+ years, a dealership that has 10-20+ mechanics in varying levels of experience lots fresh out of school and mostly work on vehicles that are within warranty. I can't speak to "4x4 shops" much since they rarely buy driveline parts from the wholesaler I work for.
That said not all transmission shops are above board and finding the good ones might be a challenge if you don't have someone to tell you who to trust.

Purists would argue you can't install a "posi" unit on a Mopar ("posi's" only came in GM products, Mopar had the "Suregrip").

That being said, I'd say go with the TruTrac everyone is mentioning.

Gamedog. I had a 454ss. you are correct. I couldn't remember what my 98 dodge called it. My 2018 didn't come with it, It's what I got from buying off the lot instead of ordering it from the factory.
