Okay....we all love our Rams. But they’re expensive now and I know each brand has their hang-ups/common issues.

What seems to be the most common issues with the 2019+ HD trucks???

I’ve seen guys with the new Power Strokes complaining about transmissions, Duramax guys complaining about wheel/steeeing shake as well as trans issues.

What is prevalent with the new Ram HDs?

could be chassis related or Cummins related (since that’s the engine I’m considering). I’m about to spend $70k+ and I’m not brand loyal. I’d consider a GM, Ford or Ram but wanna know the lowdown on each.

Each set up has its unique issues. Are you looking diesel or gas? Are you looking to maximize tow or bed carrying capacity. My family has mix of Chevy and Ram HDs, diesel and gas. Been that way for years, no real major problems. I got hit with the standard broken head bolts, but no real problem otherwise. We have steered clear of Fords after numerous problems with HDs. But for capacity, it is interesting to see the Ford F150 has a maximum payload that beats some of the HDs.

Gas or diesel Ram. 1/2 ton 1 ton..... the transmissions are a weak point. Programing sucks on the trans too. Talking about the 6 speed RFE’s

Gassers. The 6.4 hemi will have the same concerns and the 5.7 being cam/lifter failures

**** I meant to post this in “5th Gen”.
But I’m looking specifically at a Cummins...no interest in the 6.4 Hemi

.

do you live under a rock or are just blind ? ya i seen a few people complaining of the ford 10spd but you didnt mention 90% of them have death wobble and bumpsteer like old hay wagons right out of the gate. seen a few huge water leaks in the cab. vacuum front axle hubs are sure to quit working at some point in time

GM and their torsion bar garbage is the very worst choice for a offroad minded vehicle. oh and those stupid sqaure fender wells that wont accept larger tires

Hey crazy jerry relax lol.

I’m pointing out flaws in each.

I know the good parts of them (and they’re all good in those respects).

That’s why when a person spends this much (HD trucks are expensive) I wanna make sure it’s the possible/likely flaws of each that I could live with.

And the Ram/Cummins combo isn’t perfect so I was just looking for some god honest flaws from people who own a 5th Gen CTD truck that’s all.

No issues I’m aware of directly with the diesel that haven’t been discussed at length already.

No interest in the 6.4 huh... I bet you NEED diesel to tow your whatever.

Just giving you a hard time.

I need the diesel to tow my massive manhood around. Duh!

No but in all seriousness I’ll periodically tow a directional drill around. The 6.4 is limited to 16k lbs?

These drills themselves weight that much (so including the trailer the 6.4 truck won’t last long).

Now the 6.4 will be fine for me for 80+%of my driving but I need just a little more capability at times.
