I guess this is the area to ask this question: what is the best window cleaner that will NOT leave streaks? I've tried store bought stuff and i've mixed a drop of dawn with water and vinegar, which seems to work best. I tried wiping it dry with both terry cloths and lint free paper cloths. Still get those damn streaks/haze. I then tried just water with vinegar.

I don't do them in the sun or when the glass is hot. All the windows are tinted except for the windshield..which is where i get streaks. I just spent two hours trying things and just when i thought they looked great, i pull it outside and....ARGH!!

So, since this is part of detailing, any suggestions?
I use bar keepers friend (soft scrub) with water on my windows, and then hit w glass cleaner

Well somebody else with windshield issues........ I have a 2019 1500 Classic that I bought new in June of 2020. It now has about 46,000 kms (29,000 miles) and since new, the windshield is impossible to keep clean inside, and always has streaks on the outside after cleaning. Just for information, this is my 71st vehicle since I got my license in 1979, so it isn't my first time cleaning windows. My last few vehicles were new - 2008, 2011, 2014, and 2016 F150's and I have always been into detailing vehicles .I worked at a shop for a few years plus, always detailed used vehicles evenings and weekends for the dealers I worked for when my Parts Department job was done for the day. I ran my own detailing shop for 8 years, and have done everything from washing to complete wet sand and buff to paint jobs. Since 1980 or so I have been, and still am, a big fan of RainX glass treatment and won't drive anything without RainX. Also since mid 80's I have used ProForm glass cleaner in the green areosol....Never had issues until this 19 Classic. The inside of the windshield seems clean when first done, as does the outside when cleaned with glass cleaner, but always seems to be a few streaks inside and out, even after numerous rounds. Inside of the windshield the next day there starts a "haze" of some sort that you can leave a mark in with your finger if you rub it across it. Yes I am that **** about clean windows if I see a spot I check to see inside or out. I have tried probably 50 different types & brands of glass cleaner from all the top brands...even bought cleaner form 3 local auto glass shops but same thing...the film starts again. Yes unfortunately I smoke in my truck but only if the windows are all down but I did that in every vehicle I ever owned and never had issues. I change the cab filter every oil change, or every 2nd one at the most.
Another peeve with this truck is with the outside temperature change. I live in New Brunswick Canada and we have temps from 40C (107F) summer to -40 C or F winter and the slightest drop in ambient temp or rain and if the truck sits for more than 5 or 6 hours the windshield fogs up completely and is 5-10 minutes on full defrost before you can drive it. OK in the winter time but idiotic in spring, summer, or fall. Sorry for the long rant

Have your tried to wipe using crumpled newspaper? I do using most any window cleaner (in my garage) and no streaks.
First time I ever heard anyone other than me mention newspaper. The first detail shop I worked in late 70's early 80's that was the only thing the owner would let anybody use. I tried it with my issue of film on the windshield the next day after cleaning the inside of the glass but it doesn't help to stop the film coming on my windshield.

Is it ok to use glass cleaners with ammonia in them on tinted windows?
You or other readers may laugh, but I tinted windows for 25 or 30 years starting in the late 70's and the only thing I ever use is Pledge furniture polish and a real soft rag or microfiber cloth. I found other than Pledge, it always seemed to leave "swirl" marks in the tint much like swirls on a black car after washing it. My go to for tinted windows always was and still is Pledge.....plus it smells lemonny...LOL

If you really want to mess with someone buy them a bottle of Carpro Clarify. It is amazing stuff for professionals, but man its a PITA to get off for even the weekend detailer. I had my other stuff I prefer packed in my detail bag and didn't feel like unlocking my Camaro to get it out. So I grabbed my Clarify. It had been a minute, but I had forgotten all the times I trained people and handed them a bottle of it and told them to clean the glass. :evillol: I almost broke a few people lol.

Carpro Clarify is that tough to use? I haven't used it I usually just use Sprayway, but I do like sometimes a 'slippery' glass cleaner that is more liquid and flashes fast-

If it passes the test of inside windshield haze cleaning I would try it -

For a beginner yes. I love Koch Chemie GC and I just bought their speed glass. I’ll let y’all know how it works. It’s in their new pro line. I have been really liking the pro line stuff.

I use Stoner's Invisible Glass with 3 microfiber towels. I treat the window cleaner almost like a wax where I used one towel to apply (and remove dirt/grease/etc), the second towel to remove the cleaner, and the third to buff the glass. No streaks.

This is the way - too many try to use one towel and are chasing streaks because of it - I wish we could make it a sticky for window cleaning, the product doesnt matter, Stoners works great, I use Sprayway, all do the job, its the multiple towels that will do it - and my pro tip, always do the inside windshield first as its always the grimiest!
