Window rattle 2012 RAM 1500 regular cab.

I have just taken delivery of a 2012 RAM regular cab with manual, non power windows. They sure like to rattle when they are open. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it common ? Is there an easy fix ? Thanks for your input.

I've been hearing a lot of people say there new model dodges are squeaking and rattling. Some say the dash others say the door panels. Thick camper top foam seams to fix the door panel rattle. I would take off the door panels and get someone to ride with you to see what it is. A 2012 truck shouldn't rattle. Good luck.

Mine rattles when i drive due to the wind but this one done it my previous 2012 express and my dads 2011 sport does just the front windows his is a four door i just assumed by then thats how it is loose fitting windows

My right rear window rattles whenever open... it's an electric window and I have a 2500, but it drives me crazy. The other three windows make no noise.

I agree that a NEW vehicle of any kind should Not have window rattle issues.
Dodge, RAM has had this same basic door since 2002 I think.
Thanks for the reply and the tip about the thick top camper foam. I was thinking about using something like Dynamat sound insulation on some door and cab areas.
Do you run the risk of the camper foam holding any moisture ?

I still have to get some dealer input on the rattles. I think I'll make some wedges to tighten up the windows in the short run.

I guess being a little crazy only 25% of the time isn't all that bad. Hope your window rattle finds a miracle cure soon.

I have a 2012 1500 Standard Cab Express. Both windows rattle when down when driving over bumpy roads.

Really disappointing in a new truck.

Took it back to the dealership, but no luck with a repair.

I have a 2012 express regular cab with the same problem. the issue is that the window is curved on the rear edge and larger than a flat backed 4 door window. this is a design flaw. when the window is in ANY position other than 100% up, it does not make much contact with the rear window channel. Since the window is so large, it will wiggle back and forth and the lower window elevator wiggles inside the door as well. no real fix. They just cut the window and channel wrong. if the door panel is removed, there is nothing to remedy the problem that would not rub or eventually scratch the glass. I've looked and am pretty pissed! Back to back motor trend truck of the year with the windows up! Love my truck, just glad my AC works!!!

When first got my truck, rolled done rear windows only. Next thing u know no joke sounds like a helicopter taking in my cab. Same thing happens when certain windows open & certain windows closed. Started to read my factory manual, ram calls it window buffeting.

I have a 2014 regular cab and I have that same squeak when the windows are all the way down. When the windows are partially open there is no squeak, but then the windows rattle around. Took it into the dealer a couple of times and we thought it was the door panel until they took off the panel and still got the squeak. Still no remedy. It ****** me off because I've done quite a bit of offroading in my truck so far and I like to have the windows down with nice weather here in Arizona. Ill roll the windows up a bit, gets rid of the squeak...until the road gets pretty rough then the window rattles around. VERY ANNOYING!! Other then that, I love my truck. lol

i too have a 2012 reg cab. the window rattles are able to be corrected literally in about a minute. Lower the window so that about 2 inches of glass is above the door - you will notice an inside window retainer across the top of the door. This is the interior glass retainer channel and is u-shaped. If you move the glass, you will see the rattle is caused by this having too much play. Lower the glass all the way. Get some foam rubber (black) and trim a piece about 8 in long, 1/2 inch high and about 1/4 in wide. Just place this in the channel, closest to the rear of he door. Do the same, with a slightly thinner piece, closest to the front of the door. The rattles are now gone.

Ok so I just got a 2012 regular cab and the window rattle on both sides drove me nuts when it hit bumps and I closed the doors. After trying all morning all I did to fix it was reverse the top piece by glass where the felt type goes against the glass. It made the window much tighter and the door panel fits perfect as well.
