Windshield wipers

Ok, just got in my new 2014 ram and the wipers were stuck down with ice. The right one broke loose the left I broke loose. Now the left one moves but acts like it is loose and moves intermittently or off cycle. Can it be tightened somehow to the actuated shaft ?

You may have stripped the gear in the wiper motor.

Thanks, today I took the arm off and it is made just like a ball joint. Nut with a splined tapered shaft. I cleaned it off some but the splines are all but gone. I positioned it then tightened it down. The taper Seems to be holding Ok. Will get me through for now until warmer weather unless the blade freezes down again. I will have to watch that.
