Wiring exposure underneath

Hey all,

Noticed a wire hanging underneath the other day on the left side. Looks like the pin holding, what I assume is the wiring for powered running boards, popped out. I popped it back in but is the whole thing supposed to be exposed like that, feels like there should be a cover over it or something.

Also on the right side it looks different, and what's the round orange thing.

Can't tell you on the wiring but the orange thing is a frame vibration dampener.
