Figured I would post this here for wiring help. I have two lights that I want to wire up. The harness is super plug/ play and is installed. Very easy. Super fast and the lights turn on no problem.

The lights have a backlight feature the company calls a “Halo.” Anywho, I white wire comes off the back of the light:
83f017ef055bd6f324636347e2ec83a8.jpg
And, per the instructions, needs to be wired to a power accessory wire. Super vague. That’s it. Lol wtf.

So I called the company and they said fog lights and running lights are a good option. Just “tap in” lol. You got it!! How the f*ck do I do that? Sorry for my frustration but I just spent 2-3 hours in the garage screwing around with this.

I have a custom bumper and I have had my factory fog light wire tucked up. I figured Eureka! That is perfect. This should take 5 minutes.

Well, I cut that thing off....I just figured which ever one lights up the Halo then I am good. The remaining I will just cover nearly.

Well, I touch the Halo wire to each wire and, like Clark Griswold..... not a damn thing happens...

Yes, I had the fog light button pushed in...

If I touch the fog black wire with a fog white, I get a small spark, so, power is going through. If I touch the white light wire to the positive battery, the halo lights up. I just need help plugging this into the factory fog light wiring. Please help. Why this company did not offer a three position rocker switch is beyond me.

If nobody chimes in in a about 15 minutes I'll get the diagram you'll need. But a simple solution would be tie the 2 white wires off the lights and run them to the fuse box under the hood and find a fuse that is keyed on power source and use a fuse tap. That feature would always be on but quick and easy

Here's the diagram you need

This is the connector you cut off

Now you might have a issue using the fog light feed because the canbus system is very particular. You can get "led" resistors that will trick the system.

One would think:

The white wires from the halo should each go to any of the foglight wiring harness other than black (ground). The blacks from the foglight harness can be taped back as they are not used. Then you can use the trucks foglight switch to run just halos independent to the switch furnished by the light company. The trucks foglamp fuse should protect the halo circuit.

Take you voltmeter and hook it up to one of the black leads and one of the non-black, press the foglight switch and you should get a reading.

What is with the relay?

The computer maybe looking for a completed circuit and since the grounds are not used, it will not supply power

If it uses a relay for the Halo lights, usually the "white" wire is the ground side of the switch leg,try grounding that wire and see what happens

Do you think I should wire that connection back together (the one I cut off) and then tap into the white wires? I didn’t factor in the system being particular and maybe that would work....?

I tried using my volt meter. But, with all the settings, I have no clue how to use it. I only used it because I followed a YouTube video to diagnose a “parasitic drain” on my other vehicle. Other than that, it’s pretty much a ghost buster toy to me. Not a tool I use often....

Thanks for the diagram. I could have used that before I started cutting the connection off. :D

Good point. I honestly think a three position rocker switch would have been a great design feature. I will wire up the connector I cut off and try to place the white wire on the exposed connection. Hopefully it works.

Nah, I wish it was that easy. Per the introductions, the white wire is used to power the halo and needs to go to a live “accessory” wire.

No need to put it back on. Try connecting one wire to the w/O and the other to w/y then tie the 2 black wires together. As I stated before it might not work because of the canbus system looking for the amps that a halogen bulbs draws. So you'd need these

4Pcs Aaron 50W 6ohm Load Resistors - Fix LED Bulb Fast Hyper Flash Turn Signal Blink Error Code (Resistors get very hot during working) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L4V9ECY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_d2V7DbXMXTKJ4

Definitely over my level of wiring experience. I have no clue what those are lol. I am going to click around on YouTube. I am sure someone has a video up demonstrating that product. I can’t help but think there has to be an easier way.

I will tie the two grounds together like you suggested and tie the each of the two remaining wires to each light. It is dark, windy and cold out right now. I will have to wait for tomorrow :( hopefully it works.

Edit: I found this video, haven’t finished watching it yet, but, seems like it is just what I need

You may have to tap the fog light grounds to the grounds on the led lights.

This shows how they get wired in, not hard. One end taps into the positive side and the other end to the ground

If that's the case run a temporary jumper wire up to your batteries pos (+) post, they should work then.If that works just find a accessory live fuse and tie off it. The majority of better relay harness's usually use the white wire from the harness to ground the switch leg side of the relay though. If putting direct power to it doesn't work i'd try grounding it for ***** and giggles

As “1500ram12” suggested....
I connected the two blacks wires together (ground), used my volt meter and got between 11-12 volts on each fog light wire:

So easy! Success. But I am not a wiring guy, so, I would not have guessed. So thank you.

Connected everything Nice and neat. Electrical taped later. Hit the switch.... and dam!!

So, figured I would revisit this thread and ask for some help.

I checked out my wiring job and noticed the two black wires that I connected together burned through their wire connector and through the electrical tape. Pretty much melted the electrical tape around it and the other wire connections too.

Anyone have any advice? Thanks!279D41C7-1F40-4727-BCF1-541F1F619D6F.jpeg
