I put a new bumper on that has work lights. I would like to hook them to the OEM cargo light switch. Is there a pin/wire I can tap off of? I've seen videos of installing bed lights and having to do repining, but I don't have those instructions.

There LED and lower power so I would be fine just tapping a wire.

White/tan tracer in bundle under left rear floor in 5th gens. Check with test light before making connection.

Schematic confirms White/tan tracer. So what's the problem?

I urge you to utilize a Bosch-type Relay to engergize your added cargo lights. Let the OEM cargo-light switch activate the relay…which in-turn will supply power from battery to your added-lights.
Otherwise you run the risk of a conflict with your Canbus and creating a confusing set of “fail-to-operate” properly the OEM cargo light and any others on that OEM circuit.

BTDT myself.

Here’s More than you’ll ever need…complete with harnesses….at the best price ever: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072QXDZRD?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_5&th=1

(I used one of these to replace the burned-out 40-Amp starter-relay on my Kubota diesel tractor…for which Kubota wants $100…. ….. 4 years ago….and it’s Still Working perfectly.)

I would like my lights to come on with the existing cargo lights; I do like the relay method. do you think I can tap the existing power wire as my switch or will I need to run an independent switch?
