I wish the tows were power fold. I hate having to fold mine to park in my garage. (First world problems)

I'm afraid one day i'll go outside the garage and see one of the mirrors laying on the ground when "the boss" forgot to fold it in before trying to drive in the garage. :love51:

Okay, so I've been trolling since first of the year and this is my first post, so try not to code red me too bad. I'm sure I am doing something wrong. Sooo, just to confirm, I have 2013 SLT, with black standard heat and power but NO blinkers/puddles, and if I trade or purchase for tow/standard mirrors with blinkers and puddles, it will plug and play as long as I get the 2 sales codes flashed that the OP listed? I just did the DIY back up cam posted by JeepGuy_1980. So I have to get a dealer flash anyway.

That is my understanding. Since you already have the power and heat option, those will work for the tow mirrors without a flash, but to activate turn signals and puddle lamps, you have to get it flashed. Better to get all the codes flashed at once. I know the dealer by me charges ~$75 to flash!

Thanks, for the confirmation. One other question, if I get the two sales codes listed here flashed, but I do not have the mirrors with lights yet, will that throw any codes or cause any issues? Dropping it off tonite to be flashed in the morning.

Perfect, this forum is great. Best trouble shooting available in my opinion.
Thanks, apepe and bobbo, the cheapest I could find at any of the dealers around me is $98, hate to eat that twice, if I don't have too.

I mean, i've become pretty friendly with the service guys since I purchased my truck there, and I brough in a lot of business with friends of mine buying a few Rams, couple Challengers, and a Charger. So I guess its a you scratch my back, i'll scratch yours situation. They Flashed it twice, the first one didn't work, which was just the tow mirror code. The second time I got these 2 codes flashed, which did the trick. No charge either trip.

Somewhat understandable, since I purchased mine out of state, this is the first time I have had it to a local dealer here. So i'm going in blind, got referenced by a friend.
I'm curious, you said they "flashed it twice" second time successfully, was the first time a different code, than the "LEB & LEC" codes listed here?

yes, the first code they flashed was a "Tow Mirror" option code. There are 3 total codes for the mirrors, one for puddle lights, one for signals, and one for the mirror themselves. Make sure they do all 3, the LEB and LEC are for puddle lights and signals, that will make everything work. The third code (not sure of what it was, but it will be on their list) is just a Tow Mirror code, which doesn't make anything function differently, but if something stops working on them, they will be covered under your factory warranty. I made sure that code and the code for the sport grill insert I did were added just so everything is covered under warranty.

I think that third code is to change the power mirror controls when the mirrors are in the upright position...

That function actually worked before the flash

When I swapped my '13 power / heated mirrors on my 1500 for towing/heated/turn signal/puddle lamps from a '13 2500....the turn signals and puddle lamps wouldn't work. I brought the truck to the dealer I bought it from and they tried to "flash" it. I watched what the guy was doing.....he set his laptop on the drivers seat. He said he wasn't able to flash mine....that there was no upgrade available. He said it's all based on what your VIN # is telling it to control. He showed me that if there was a flash available....it would show a green check mark on his screen when he had my mirrors selected. There was no green check mark..... Maybe he didn't know about these other codes? After watching what he was doing and looking at the screen with him....I'm not sure if he could have changed the codes. He said he wasn't able to do anything.....that it was based on what was programmed with my VIN. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!!!!

I can't see why the Vin # matters as long as you have the right module since some express truck come with the top package which is mirrors and brake controller. I saw a reg at the dealer I bought mine from and they told me they could add it to mine but the price was way too high. I don't need the brake control since I never used it in my 13 but I would like the mirrors for the few times I tow a trailer since the stock ones have terrible blind spots

I got my added tailgate cam flashed yesterday, and it works perfectly. But to add my .02 here, I also had dealer add the tow mirrors code as a dealer installed option, and added the LEB & LEC codes to activate the lights. I cant confirm because I don't have them yet, but this will be my next addition and they said it is ready for plug & play once I get them put on. I will update as soon as I trade my std. heat/power only mirrors for tows or purchase a set.

Your tech cant just flash it, they have to have the sales codes attached to the VIN#, once they do that (at the dealership I go to, only the service manager had the authority to do so), the tech has to just reflash the ECU, which is why the VIN matters. If that sales code isnt attached to the VIN, the lights will not work, and your mirrors will not be covered by warranty.

As far as the module, there is only one, so everyone has the right module. The one module controls all functions, and its the only one present regardless of your options, the ECU just tells it what signals to send out based upon the flash.
