@RLK, I found a 2014 VIN to use to download the software, but I appreciate the offer.

@Mpgrimm, I understand there are no guarantees. Was more just looking for a confidence level. Based on everything I've read from you on this forum, I'll take your "you should be okay" and give it a shot when I get home Friday. Also, I'll PM you the VIN I used in case you want to check the files against your 2013 files.

Confirmed:
* 2013-2014 (MY13-MY14) RA2's use the same software. (just like the RA4's)

Note: Latest FW for 2013-2014 is SW version 5.2.20.1 (as of 1-17-17)

My guess (if it follows the RA4's) :
* 2015 (MY15) RA2's will have their own Sw.
* 2016 (MY16) RA2's will have their own Sw.

* 2017's are looking a bit screwy so far with the different uConnect 3.0 (RA?) vs uConnect 5.0 (Ra2) ?

If anyone has any VIN's for 2015 and up RA2's they are willing to share (so I can confirm the above), please PM me.

I was finally able to check some things out on the radio/camera this morning. The radio SW was 5.2.20.0 instead of x.x.x.1, so I went ahead and updated. No change, so I decided to double check the pin in the BCM connector, but it was secure. Then I went back to the tailgate and checked the voltage on the purple wire to make sure my soldered connection to the OR/DB wire at the BCM was good, and it is (had ~11-12V when in reverse). So I'm really at a loss at this point. It seems to me to be either a bad camera (not sure if a bad camera would cause the lines not to show up??) or something else needs to be activated to get the lines to work. Keep in mind I activated the camera using the AutoEnginuity scan tool, not by having the dealer flash the sales code.

Also, the software update did not add the Parkview options in the safety settings.

Did you get the OEM full kit with the camera supplied? I am just putting this out there, the older cameras, from the 2011 and 2012 trucks look the same and plug in the same but some of these earlier cameras did not have the ability to do the lines. A buddy of mine bought a camera for his 2012 and the particular part he got did not do lines.

I know this likely is not the case for you, unless you bought piecemeal, an older kit or one that some one pieced together, just a thought to check camera part number.

I had actually looked into this because I had read that the older model cameras didn't have the ability for lines, but I bought the full kit from allmoparparts.com; PN 82214240. It says it's for 2013+. I'll go back out and check the actual camera part number when I get a chance.

Camera P/N 56038978 should be the P/N you have in your kit .
There will be two ea letters at the end of the p/n these letters shouldn't matter , I believe they signify build dates & vendor info.

My camera was an (AH) , Mpgrimm2 was an AE , but I've seen successful installs with active gridlines with cameras AF , AI , AG , AI , AJ , I'm sure there are more but the base p/n is still the 56038978 .
The p/n is on the actual camera , you may need to temporarily remove the camera to see the p/n

I believe the p/n of the camera will prove to be irrelevant, because without the proper software in the radio to turn on the active gridlines in the safety & Parkview settings I do not believe you will have the lines .

Checked the camera PN and it's the right one, so I guess the only thing left is the software, but I have no idea where to even begin with that since I've installed the most up-to-date software available. And it seems I may be the first person that's run into this situation, so I may just have to settle and be happy with what I've got.

Per Mpgrimm2 post 1103 above the 13 & 14 RA2 radios have the same software .
I find it strange that jcarden10 has an original install RA2 in his 14 Ram and when he runs his Vin for the update the latest software version available is the 5.2.20.0 as opposed to the 5.2.20.1 which is the latest available?
Also odd I have the SW 5.2.20.1 on a thumb drive that I received in August 2015 using a 13 vin # ?

@Mpgrimm2 , I'm thinking the SW I have on my thumb drive would work for jcarden10 ?

I'm not 100% sure , but if he was to insert my thumb drive in his USB and the radio displayed his installed version being 5.2.20.0
And the mediums SW is 5.2.20.1
I think it's worth a shot ....

With that said , it's obviously up to jcarden10 ultimately.

That is so strange. When I checked his VIN and downloaded the sw, I got the same sw file (MD5 checksum matched), i.e. v5.2.20.1 as I got for my 2013 RA2 VIN.

I'm going to PM jcarden10 my VIN (original 2013 ra2) for him to just download it himself as it will save time and shipping $.

I am left thinking it is one of three things ...

1) Wiring issue at BCM C5/E-45 (wrong wire?)
- When @R.L.K. had this issue, he checked the Lin Bus CBC 3 signal and I don't recall it being a straight 12v on/off signal as @Jcarden10 is indicating. Likely some sort of serial data signal that was inconsistent when checked with a standard meter. He really needs to get a long piece of wire to use as a meter lead extension and ohm the lin bus cbc 3 (BCM C5/E-45) wire out all the way back to the i550 tailgate connector ( Pin 2 ).

No offense to J, but my money is on him splicing the wrong wire at the BCM. there is more than one Pink/Yel wire (has happened to a few others here).

Good pictures by Piper618 starting at post 306
(added below)

2) Incorrect Software on the RA2.
- Per the VIN he PM'd me, he should be able to download sw v5.2.20.1 (not 5.2.20.0)

3) Didn't activate all necessary BCM settings for the backup camera via the AutoEnginuity Code tool.
@00R/T or Ricks Ram would have to confirm that though. My guess is that this option is straightforward and not the issue.

Fyi.
PS: there are some good pictures of the bcm C5 pin 45 by 70chall440 and nickster starting here..
http://www.ramforum.com/showthread.php?p=979047

@jcarden10 double check the wires at the new camera harness connector where it comes through the firewall boot. People have gotten that wrong too.

R.l.k.'s install starts around post 116

Will try to find where he checked the CBC 3 signal.

Starts around ... Post 297.
Update , last night I reinspected my entire install of the Lin Bus circuit as follows : visually inspected pins & sockets wire conditions, tugged on everything to ensure good factory crimps and seating ect..ect...
Figured out the purple wire in my OEM Harness changes colors @ the tailgate disconnect to a orange and dark blue stripe , (just like up front @ BCM C-5 / 45 Connector ) this wire changes colors again @ the next litle short camera harness @ the handle assy inside the tailgate to a much smaller diameter light blue wire ,maybe 22 gauge or 24 any how I was able to ring out every wire in that new short camera /Tail Gate lock harness AND THEN I HOOKED EVERYTHING BACK UP / WITH THE EXCEPTIONS @THE C-5 CONNECTOR AND THE TINY SLIDE ON TYPE CONNECTOR AND VERIFIED CONTINUITY FROM THE FACTORY INSTALLED SOCKET 45 ( FRONT SIDE ) AND THE TINY , TINY UPPER CENTER SOCKET ON THE CAMERAS SLIDE ON CONNECTOR !! I WAS USING MY CALIBRATED MULTIMETER FROM WORK AND A 65 FOOT 22 GAUGE WIRE LOOM AND THE TOTAL RESISTANCE WAS 2.3 OHMS !
That's a good low resistance for a 65' loom and the entire OEM harness assy 20 + feet with 3 connectors and my solder joint @ the Orange &Dkblue Blue wire socket 45 , C-5 Connector . Oh and I verifier the BCM DID HAVE a male pin @ this wires location LOL ! wouldn't that be a hoot if it was blank . I have no way to troubleshoot beyond the BCM Yet , I'll be trying to obtain a more detailed wire diagram soon and updating my Radio RA2 Software soon as well .
For what it's worth , still no active lines !

Anyone who has a working knowledge of the Lin Bus system and clock spring detailed attachment to it and any knowledge or suggestions of an a curate way for me to troubleshoot beyond the BCM. , To figure out why I do not have the Active grid lines on my 2014 RAM Q.C 4X4 1500 ST , With a newly installed OEM Tailgate camera backup system I WOULD BE ALL EARS FOR SOME ASSISTANCE. ..THANKS IN ADVANCE!

And signal levels at post 341
I did check the signal of the Lin Bus CBC3 @ C-5 s socket 45 ( tapping into the Or/dkblue) while troubleshooting as follows : batt hooked up key fob not in ignition = 12vdc , fob in =12vdc , fob @ ACC= 10.5 for 9 seconds then back to 12vdc , running = same as previous 10.5 / 9 seconds then 12vdc , in Reverse 12 vdc no change .back to park 10.5 / 9 seconds then 12 vdc ?
Hot all the time ?
Also in any position if you provide ground to the circuit while it's @ 10.5 /12 vdc it immediately goes to ZERO , I MEAN IMMEDIATELY, Like a relay switching , not sure what this means ?

Looks like I remembered it incorrectly. So If the wire is correct at the BCM and all the way back to the tailgate connector then my money is on the Radio Software/version issue.

and finally fixed at Post 423 (Re-Flashed/Updated the Radio SW)
Well for anyone who cares and anyone that has followed my troubleshooting of NO ACTIVE GRIDLINES, I finally and reluctantly got around to updating my software in my RA2 today , I had no confidence this would work but turns out I'm a ******* ! Lol see pics below .
My previous SW Version was 2.3.20 the new is 5.2.20 .1

☆☆☆Edit☆☆☆
Mpgrimm2 mentioned to me multiple times to update the software. ....turns out I should've listened to him a long time ago !

added the follow to post 10's list of links and troubleshooting:

Note: See R.L.K.'s troubleshooting/install at post 116, Post 297, post 341, and resolved at Post 423

Too many pictures Ron, especially that last one!

PS:
Got my front camera (Amazon) in the mail today. Now if I can get a good day to install it (apt parking lot is not ideal)96a6cc1aefae8246c9b455434dfdf57a.jpg

I installed the 5.2.20.1 software yesterday, but still don't have the parkview options in the radio settings. Also, I double checked the wiring at the BCM and PDC. Both connectors have clear numbered labels on them, so it's not hard to figure out where pin 45 and 13, respectively, are located. I can take pictures if I need to. If there were a wiring issue at the PDC I would think the camera wouldn't work at all as I assume that's where the power to the camera comes from and if there was a problem at the BCM I wouldn't think there would be any voltage on the purple wire at the tailgate.

I really think there is a software issue or there is a second setting that I need to activate with the scan tool. However, I PM'd 00R/T last week and asked if there was anything else he knew of that needed to be activated be sides the "Rear Camera Present" setting and he said no. I've looked through every other module setting for the BCM within the scan tool and the only other thing I could find that appears to be related to the backup cam is the "Backup-Reverse SW Input Present". I activated that, but there was still no change.

Dang, running out of options.

It would be great if you ohmed that wire all the way back to the tailgate.

Are you sure about the Chassis/Cab Harness 'A' connector pins?
Post 280 - R.L.K.'s pictures of the OEM Kit's "Chassis Harness A" connectors at both the i550 Tailgate and Cab End under the foot well.
** Pay Attention, People Get the Pins Wrong Here Also **

I'm assuming when 00R/T activated his camera via the scan tool that he got the gridlines working?

I'm 100% sure the wiring is good. Unless there is an issue within one of the harnesses somewhere. I tried verifying the camera harness (the one with the smaller wires that actually plugs into the camera), but the plug has shrink tubing around it, so I'm not sure how to get it off without destroying the harness itself. The reason I am skeptical of it is because there are two marker dots on the camera connector, one blue and one green. I checked continuity on the harness and the blue wire (the wire that lines up with the OR/DB wire in the tailgate harness) is actually in line with the green dot on the camera connector.

With that said, I still think this comes down to a software issue since I don't have the parkview settings in the radio.

Also, in case anyone needs it in the future, to check the software version of the RA2 radio, you have to go into engineering mode. To do this, you hold down the RADIO+MEDIA+MORE buttons for about 5-15 seconds. TO get out you hold SETTINGS for 5 seconds or just turn the truck off. Other than the radio software version, there isn't really anything useful in engineering mode.
