Adding cooled seats

@Ricks Ram thanks for sharing. Hoping it all works for you. I just got a set of Laramie seats for my 2016 tradesman crew so I am just beginning the process. Just two quick questions:

1. Where did you get the power and ground to operate the seats?

2. Would you be willing to share any schematics that you have? I'm trying to figure out exactly what wires my tradesman actually has.

I ran a fused positive wire from my battery to into my cab under my drivers seat. I installed 10 slot fuse box under the seat. I tap into power for my seats and power folding mirrors and any other accessories I need to wire there. You just need to tap into the solid black wire and solid red wire in the yellow plug in each seat. Dodgetk81 and 00/RT were nice enough to send me some great schematics. I will be happy to forward them to you if you want to PM me your email add.

Unfortunately you Tradesman will most likely be just like my truck and have none of the wiring unless it's a regular cab.

Here's a picture of the yellow connector under my drivers seat. It looks like I may have the red and black.

You have the bare minimum like Rick's truck. The power for the seat motors would be in the bottom right position on that connector.

This is a picture of a truck that has the correct wiring. Your new seats will have the gray connector so you will need to source the plugs and pins. I have some on order but I haven't received them yet.

Well, the good news is that Rick is the guinea pig. Most of what we're learning with his conversion should apply to you as well.

Here's what I have:

3 gray connectors that go to the center seat console


These I think I should be able to put these in a new gray connector to fit the 2015 seat:



and this is the gray connector on the 2015 driver seat:



Bummer they won't plug in directly :-(

I was able to install the seats today. I tapped into a hot 12V in the floor harness to get both power seats working. Time to regroup and gather more parts and harnesses to get the heat/cool seats working... maybe even heated steering wheel ;-)

That's jump seats a little outta place now lol. Looks good. Good luck on the heated/cooled part. I'd think it would be fairly basic with a relay and switch added as long as you weren't trying to get it work off the 8.4 That's a whole nother adventure that many are attempting right now lol

Yep, the center seat is a bit out of place but oh well ;-)
I've looked online and only found one pic the had a tan center seat and it didn't have the cup holder portion at the front when folded down It'll be a little while before I can devote time to getting the seat heaters working but I'm looking forward to it for sure

Looks nice. You can contact Leathersests.com a vendor on the forum and they can send you some samples to recover your center jump seat if you want too. They sell top quality products. I used them to completely re cover my seats and jump seat when I installed my Laramie seats. They will most likely have a color extremely close to your new seats. This is a picture of my seat after I re covered it. I don't have a picture if the jump seat but the quality was the same. It fit perfectly. They will sell in pieces so you can do just the jumpseat. Just an option if you decide to go that way.

That's great information as they seem to be just like hens teeth to find. I'll check with them to redo my center seat.

I talked to them today. They will just sell the jump seat covers. Seem great to deal with. $250-$350 depending on options. They are sending me samples to compare to my Laramie seats to pick the closest leather option available.

That was exactly what I was going to do when I had them send me the samples. I was only going to recover my center console To match my new seats. Once I saw all the options I could do I got a little carried away and order the whole kit and recovered it all LOL. I agree with you they are very nice and they were very easy to work with.

Where did you source the gray (seat cushion driver 2) connector from? I know that it's yazaki part# 7283-6388-40 but I can't find it in stock at any of the normal places that I order from.

Rick had the same issue. I found that 7283-6568-40 is the same connector with the addition of a CPA lock. I'm pretty sure Rick ordered it and confirmed it mates properly, but he can confirm.

What's the number of each pin needed? I was going to order like 40 of each and 2 housings, but the one pin is a special order and .99 ea. So I just want to order what I will need and a few extra.

Yes it fit perfect. I am still waiting for the pins for the Grey plug. I have been trying to get them for a couple of weeks. I finaly had to place a special order and pay alot more and purchase extra but I want to do this right. I will be happy to pass any extras along after I finish for what I payed. Assuming this works LOL. I am also still waiting for the pins for the plug under the dash that the harness for the heated wheel plugs into. They were supposed to be in stock but low and behold they weren't. I am trying to be patient and wait for all the correct connectors but they have been the hardest part of this conversion so far. The part numbers for the pins for the Grey plug are
7116-4721-02
7115-4720-02
You will need 9 wires going to the Grey plug 5 from the passenger seat 2 for the heated wheel and 2 for the CANbus.
There are two different part numbers because they are for different gages of wire but I ordered both just to try to get them.
00/RT has sorced all the part numbers for me. I am unable to look them up so he has been a great help

7114-4101-02 Is The part number for the male pin that goes to the plug under the dash the heated wheel wires would plug into. There are two of them.
The connector pins for the passenger seat have been easy to get Nexus has plenty in stock. There are two sizes but I don't have the part numbers handy. I will look them up from my packing slip when I get home if no one chimes in. I attached a picture of the plug under the dash that the heated wheel pins attach too. They enter from the right side but the opposite side is unpopulated.
