Thanks for the reply SB. It's actually a SPDT switch with two dependent LEDs (with their own +, - ).

Here is an updated diagram with the LED + going to the dimmer switch. I am assuming that would work?

Can I get the specifics on what box you sourced for your distribution center on top of the fuse box?

Thanks! I searched high & low on Amazon using every description combination I could think of and still never came across that specific box.

One part I didn't quite understand, granted I have only glanced at all 5 pages of this threat, but you put the fuse block in a water tight box, okay got it.. its secured with Magnets, okay got it. Didn't you have to drill holes for the wires to enter the box thus defeating its waterproofing? or did you seal where the wires are for that exact reason?

Watertight box isn't really waterproof anymore. The holes for the loom are pretty tight though. I was more worried about splash and the waterproof box was the right size. It wouldn't necessarily need to be waterproof. I used magnets to not only to nit have to drill holes in the OEM fuse box lid underneath.

Okay, That makes sense. How did you give the fuse box power? Did you run it from the battery? Did you make quick disconnects for when you need to get in the fuse box or just enough slack so you could move the watertight box?

Also, what type of magnets did you use, gauge of wire to the fuse box and length? Did you make a new ground or use the battery's?

Magnets from Lowes:

Note to self: install fewer magnets at a time and tape/secure them in place better, they will push and pull on each other making a mess of the epoxy. The good part is they seem to center themselves once in place.

Wire was 8AWG and i ran it to the battery positive and ground (I was waiting to see if there was any issue by doing that, but so far it's all good); about 2 feet each wire. No quick disconnects, but that's not a bad idea, maybe a future mod.

Had you thought about using Velcro instead of magnets, if you did why didn't you go that route? It seems to me, if you got the really nice industrial strength Velcro or heck even the semi cheap stuff it would have been easier to apply, and cut down on the height of the secondary fuse box. I'd ask if you had experinced any weird power flux from the polarity of the magnits but I'm sure you would have said something if you did. I do like the originality of the magnets though looks really nice.

Is 8awg the largest wire that secondary fuse box can take? It by no means is small wire, but I've ran subs before and I always like to over wire haha. Running 25ft of 00AWG through a vehicle was... fun... :emotions122:

my first idea to attach the boxes was actually marine grade cabinet latches, but i decided I didn't want to drill holes in the PDC. I then tried velcro. It was too good lol the velcro halves would stick together and the adhesive would let go from one side or the other. And yes... I thoroughly cleaned and prepped the surface.

As far as height, there's still at least an inch clearance between the hood and the top of the box on the outboard side and probably 3 or four on the inbound side.

No weirdness from magnetic fields, (though might be different if I were powering a stereo/amp off this circuit. 8awg was nowhere near the biggest I could have run, but it was PLENTY big enough for my demands at that wire length.

With a 2ft length of cable, your right 8awg would be a lot of power transference. I didn't think about that. I'm disappointed the velcro didn't work I was hopping to get away with that. The only thing I can think of to try would be to scuff up the plastic where you would apply the velcros adhesive but even then it might not hold. Good info, I think I'll be ordering my stuff here in the next few days.

This is actually a really good thread. Detailed, clear and concise. You can never have enough lights!
