Anyone have experiences w/ both? Looking at LT285/70/17.

Price is within $10 a tire but the Toyos are lighter and have a 65K mile warranty. They do not have the snowflake, though.

Toyo:
50 lbs ea
3195 lbs max load

BFG
58.1 lbs ea
3195 lbs max load

I have some experience with the bfgs but not the toyos. Both are good tires. If your really worried about snow traction check out Duratracs, I currently have them and they do much better in snow than the bfgs I had

I have a lot of experience with the Toyo AT's. Got excellent mileage out of them, decent wet traction, not really an off-road tire per se. They do trap a lot of small rocks on gravel roads so you do need to clean them out from time to time.

It's time to replace my AT's at almost 60K miles and my list is:

1. Toyo AT II's
2. BFG All Terrain KO2's
3. Toyo RT's

I will need a Load range E tire and most of my driving is hwy with the occasional off-road excursion so I am leaning towards a more aggressive tread, such as the Toyo RT or KO2's. My only concern is adding more weight out at each corner.

Good luck with your choice!

Are you looking at Toyo Open Country AT2's or Toyo Open Country AT2 Xtreme's?

Maddog,

Thanks for the suggestion RE Toyo R/Ts - they seem identical to the KO2s from a weight and load perspective. The R/Ts do have a 45K mile warranty, which is nice.

Do you have any thoughts about why you'd rate the KO2s higher than the R/Ts?

Thanks!

I'm putting a set of the BFG KO2s 285/65/20 on tomorrow, I can post opinions/reviews in awhile. We wont get snow here for a couple months (fingers crossed) but I got them due to their supposed excellent winter tread

I waiting desperately for the excuse to dump the POS stock Goodyear SR-As that came on my 4x4. They are terrible. Definitely keeping an eye on this thread, so ready for a real A/T tire.
