Replaced the head gaskets on the correct sides this time. Will get everything hooked back up this afternoon. I might not have enough coolant left and there's a blizzard here today so will probably have to wait until tomorrow to start it up.

Need some help from you gurus. I still have a misfire but no codes. So far I've replaced plugs, crank and cam sensors and 4 out of 8 of my coils. At $20 a pop, I've been replacing them here and there.

It's a 4.7 and the misfire isn't constant. I've been getting a popping which appears to come from the intake. When it pops the motor jerks a bit and my fuel mileage seems to suck. Besides replacing the other coils, any other suggestions?

The old crank sensor was gummed up pretty bad and that seemed to cure most of the issues, but I still have the misfire here and there, not everyday.

Have you replaced the EGR valve? I'm not too familiar with the 4.7L but I know a bad EGR can drop your MPG and cause it to run like crap.

I had a very similar situation, have you looked into it being head gaskets? the 3.7 and 4.7 motors suck and were notorious for head gasket failures, pull each plug and peek inside the plug hole with a light, if the piston is clean then you have a head gasket issue, now some will say check the oil and stuff like that, but mine had no symptoms other than what you have, and nothing changed until my head gasket completely failed

I will have to do that. No offense but I hope you're wrong. LOL

Coolant and Oil are fine. Replaced the oil and the water pump after the misfire started and both had no signs of a failure.

I was always partial to Clarion and Eclipse HUs. I also always loved PPI Art Series amps.

Eclipse has always been my “ go to “ brand back in the day. My entire Cadillac was all Eclipse including the voice activation system. That one wasn’t exactly their best foot forward lol.

My first real HU was an Eclipse ECD-410. I loved that thing, only down side was it only had one set of preamp outputs. I then upgraded to the Clarion DRX9375R. One of the first RDS tuners. That thing had a ton of features for the day including an external DSP.
