There is a beautiful black truck at one of the dealers near me, 2019 sport package. I love the color, but I am a bit concerned about the upkeep due to the fact that black gets dirty quickly. I would like to hear from owners who have black trucks or considered buying black trucks.

Why did you buy or did not buy black?

How much of effort is required to keep it in top shape?

Do you take it to car wash or hand wash?

Do you have swirl marks after several washes?

Would you consider buying black again?
Had a black GMC SLT for 13 years. First week I almost got tee-boned 3 times by red-light runners at night. Bought a silver cap and never happened again. Just sayin! New Ram 3500 Delmonico Red w/matching cap. No problems yet.

I have three yes three Black vehicles, they are absolutely gorgeous when clean, but you are signing up for a commitment when you purchase a black vehicle, and I didn't even bring up the chrome wheels lol.

Mine is a truck. I use it like a truck. I'm never going to detail it. Ever. If it's really dirty, I'll go through a car wash. I'm sure I could spend a ton of time keeping it pristine, but I'd rather spend my time doing other things. Some day when I'm on my death bed and looking back at what I did during my life, incessant work to keep a truck shiny probably won't make the top 10. I'm sure I'm in the minority.
WE are in the minority. I'm with you on washing a work/dd truck. More important things in life brother. However, nothing looks better than black & chrome so, I bought this to shine up. Much less sheet metal than my 2500 CCLB.

My Ram is Black Forest Green, and is often mistaken for Black, but the concept is the same. Yes, it shows dirt, and I hand wash it every so often. My wife has a white Grand Cherokee, and it also "shows dirt"... more correctly, it shows dark stuff (i.e., road oil and bug splatters) more readily. Either way, I wash and clean both of them (I know... what a husband! ;)), My wife said she does not want another white vehicle when she trades... most likely will go with dark blue, dark red, burgundy, or charcoal gray. She saw a brown one on the dealer lot and also refuses to choose that color... says that all it needs is a license plate that reads, "MRHANKEY". :p

White tends to be more visible in some kinds of ambient light than some other colors, while there are colors in the middle of the visible light spectrum that are very visible. Those at the ends are not as visible in most ambient light, so that is worth considering.

Main thing I always hated about my black vehicles was they showed every spec of dust. However, my previous silver Ram nor my current white Ram have that issue. I used to wash my black challenger, then go inside to take a shower, come back out 30min later and boom....covered in dust, drove me nuts because to me it always looked dirty due to dust

Thanks for the answers so far. Does ceramic coating help with extending the wash cycle at all?

Ignore my previous post, as I quoted the wrong post .

Did you do it yourself or did you get it done professionally?

Lol, actually no I did not. This is where it gets to be situation based. My detailer is also my friend and we barter about things. With that being the case it’s hard to put a dollar amount on it and even if I ask him what he charges it would solely be a guide. Our other friend went and had his CUV done and that was (2) days and $1600.00. When he got it back, he really disliked the job that had been done. After three more attempts to make him happy, they walk away from him and the situation.

IMHO its either Brilliant Black, or White Metallic. What is the ceramic coating mentioned above? What does it cost to have it done, if I can ask?

Black has been my #1 color choice for a long time I've washed my vehicles daily since I started driving. Kind of like taking a shower and brushing my teeth everyday

Daily washes? What the what? .. who as time for dat?

OK.
I'll guestimate you worked 40 yrs bc you're retired.
40 yrs X 365 days X 1/2 hr = 304 days of your life spent cleaning vehicles. WOW! You coulda built a nice sailboat. ;)
