I believe we have confirmation that dealers are sampling oil. Check out the last page on thread "another Lifter failure ".
This is good information moving forward.

I didnt take it that way...unless I missed something, the poster stated that they found excess metal in the oil. My first thought would be they used a coffee filter to drain the oil into, NOT that they did a UOA.

I mentioned it on the z awhile back, but folks couldn't get past using anything other than 5/20.

I have ran into this on Facebook, guy told me my truck would not run on 5w30.
**** cracks me up, I give up on those people let them be sheep if thats what they want.

My first and only thought is most dealer techs are idiots, huddle around your truck and make **** up to fit their agenda.

Agreed.

But I did let my first RP filter drain into a relatively clear container and was able to see flakes of...something. Not sure what they were but they were easy to see. Hopefully it doesnt mean something bad down the road, but at least I have MaxCare.

The 3rd time i went to the dealer for a recall i was standing at my truck with the hood open inside the service drive through. When we finished our discussion about how my water pump was replaced and i wanted to make sure they put the correct coolant in the dude pointed at my break fluid reservoir and said “do you see how dark your power steering fluid is? We could change that for you if you would like.”

I said “ my truck only has 15,000 miles on it so the power steering fluid is fine.... and that fluid you are pointing to is not my power steering fluid reservoir.....its my break fluid”

He said “ have a nice day”.

^^^^This happened to me when I first came here & did my 2nd oil change with M1 EP 5W-30 & posted it here.

Holy $hit: You would have thought I was the Anti-Christ!

My engine was going to implode & the MDS was going to totally malfunction. My only thought was the Sheep Herder has lost total control of his flock.

I proved them all wrong & really had head scratchers when I run the SRT 0W-40 with great results & Zero issues.

I’m still amazed at the gullibility of most.

Sampling oil yes, however I'd really be interested in what they are actually looking at. Is it the quality of the oil or just for contamination? The only thing that was notated was contamination.

I would like to just say that I’ve learned a lot and continue to learn a lot on this thread and forum. If it wasn’t for you guys I’d be dead in the water about quite a few things especially redline. I thank all the contributors for your knowledge and experience. I hope this thread never dies and people continue to wake the f up! Once again, thank you.

We have reached our original goal of having an answer for new people that show up with excess engine noise, the tic, have questions or they just want to know what we like.

We talked about this years ago. How we wanted to just help. But we had to help ourselves first.

And lets not forget that we are ALL always learning from each other about a variety of things about these trucks

This is one one of the Key threads we need to keep alive. Reading every month about changes being made in oil, most often to meet manufactures specs and the changes they are engineering into today's engines. Look at the members that participate on this thread. No ********, just solid information.

I can say for a fact that we all are learning together at this point. The value here from now on is simply the experiences of every member who has one. Just when we thought we knew everything, h395 and RLK pull those UOA's that just blew me/us away. Thanks to them for continuing to do many uoa's to get a great information base. They prove the redline wear numbers go way way down with use in the hemi, they are so low they don't even look like hemi's imo. If they didn't invest in that and share it, and I wasn't here to see that, I'd never know that piece of invaluable info. Brand new information, 5w30 redline wear numbers go down with use, proven by dual uoa's with guys redline and other uoa's on the same sheet. You aint gonna get that at BITOG, unless someone poaches them, lol.

Now compare his last uoa versus his first, obviously BOTH redline. More miles this time by a lot, and the wear was 1/3 what it was his first uoa on the page when the motor was well broken in at 40k miles. Mic drop..

Now look at his SECOND uoa, only 1500 miles on that oil why Ronnie? Anyhow, the mic dun blew up. 9k plus miles versus 1500 miles, lower wear- same engine- same oil. can we drop a mic twice?

long term redline use= low hemi wear numbers, to go along with those quiet engines. Last piece of the puzzle, are we lubricating the cams better so they don't fail early. Stay tuned, maybe 5 plus years to we get some idea on that.
