nope-- you do lose the tow hooks with a 1.5" body lift.

Wahrsuul- are those spyder tails? mine throw bulb out codes.

No, but I'm not sure what brand they are. Amazon just says they sold by Akkon. No codes on mine, but then the 09-12 seems less affected by the canbus bulb issues.

and you probably didn't have LED tails before the swap.

You’d really have to match driving style to driving style to see if that aero mode even works, to get accurate results.

Yes, This was a very unscientific experiment. More of a reason to play with the different settings and see how the truck performed.

I will say, that this truck does not feel as planted in the rear end when pulling the trailer as my non-air suspension did. This is my first Ram with air suspension and it feels almost as if the rear end is floating, rather than planted when traveling at speeds above 60 MPH with the trailer attached. My 2011 and 2014 Rams, both 4X4 regular suspension felt locked in and attached to the road when pulling a trailer of similar size and weight.

That’s weird. Whenever I pull a trailer, the back end feels nice and firm, secure and pretty well planted. Of course the only heavy trailer I’ve pulled so far was a flatbed loaded with a kid’s Mustang and it felt just as solid as could be. And it didn’t even squat. I was pretty impressed with that air ride. Even my little 10-foot utility trailer feels solid.

Did you notice all those sensations when in aero mode, normal ride height, or both? To my knowledge, the ride height only lowers a half inch or so in the back so that shouldn’t be enough to change the firmness of the rear air bags too much. If I’m not mistaken, the front is what drops a little over an inch.

I’ve turned my aero mode off several times before but I’ve always ended up turning it back on. I can’t make up my mind if the truck rides better in aero mode vs. normal ride height, if it actually does get better mileage with the front end lowered, if it corners better or not... and then there’s the part that may makes me think whether or not I’m causing premature wear working the pump that much all the time, or if it’s actually better to work the pump regularly to keep things moving/lubed up or not... I dunno.

One thing to keep in mind tho with these air ride systems is that coil springs are only gonna have a set compression resistance no matter what, that really isn’t going to change a whole lot. Air springs on the other hand, will change depending on how much air is in them. More air, more solid, less air, more softer.

If you cinch up the D rings, you might not even need those bungees.

Do you have clearance to run your chains on the front? I guess you really only need to if you’re running in deep snow....

Don't even need the bungees. Just a little extra insurance. The chains are actually for 275 60 20 so they barely fit. Once I use them a bit the chain will stretch and then they'll be there to take out the slack. I think they would clear the front if I kept it in or1 or or2, but even in deep snow they're so aggressive I just push right through with them.
Which chains? Tire size? Thanks!
They're trygg studded 7mm. They didn't have the official size, but the industrial supplier I got them from had a book with cross references. They're a bit tight on my 275 65 20, which is in the pictures and without the cams probably wouldn't fit. Those were made for 275 60 20, but do have the correct size for 275 65 20 as well.

my doods.... how deep is the snow you are talking about???

I used to take my truck with duratracs off road in a foot of snow easy without even using 4x4...

I cant imagine needing chains on anything but a tractor....

*****

ahh well i guess that explains it but that must be a royal pain in the ass to take off chains when roads are clear again?
It is, but I can chain up pretty quick as long I have a decent spot to do it. Taking the chains off only takes a couple minutes. Probably more work cleaning them after I'm done with them.

The foot of snow isn't the problem. Its the steep grade with a foot of snow covering the packed ice under it or the hard packed clay thats slicker than greased goose **** when it rains.

Man. Canada geese have the worst greasy **** ever! If I had a nickel for every greasy goose **** I slipped on.... lol

At the dealership getting my 3 recalls done. I hate letting anyone touch my truck, even techs lol

I'm anxious about that too. I have an appointment on Saturday for 3 recalls and to hopefully get my exhaust manifolds fixed in one visit.
