This is what im seeing, note the 4 passive entry antenna (2 with inline connector and 2 without)

The "premium" pre-made kits come with 4 antennas.

Also note the lack of connectors for *rear* door handles....maybe my AllData only shows standard cab config, but Im not sure what the pre-made kits connect to with the rear door handles.

Yeah the door handles are considered antennas as well. Though it works more as a circuit completion. Meaning as you grab the handle and the small round dot with your thumb .. it completes the circuit and the door unlocks

You can get the handles n chrome .
I purchased mine from the dealership when I added the handles with key sense

What were the part numbers and price and were there a wiring harness with them or you purchased one separately or made one yourself or bought online somewhere

I just made my own harness per say .
I’m thinking about doing this on my 18 ram 1500

The inputs to the rfhub they're considered as antennas ... according to that diagram but you gotta grab the door handles before it'll unlock ... that's completing a circuit using the resistance of your body ... you can stand all day long next to them and yes they are sensed by the rf hub. But the door will never unlock til you grab the handle. That's why I said what I said the way I said it.

True ... ok thanks. I'm leaning towards just going ahead and do the door handles too since my current plain Jane ones are chrome

I’ll try to address everything from the previous posts in one post here, as I’ve been researching and planning this for the past month or so.

The door handles have a switch (press to lock) and a sensor (grasp or touch it to unlock). The antennas are: one on the back wall next to the rf hub, one in front under the center console, and one in each of the rear doors (on a four door). When the antenna in the rear door senses the fob, it tells the rf hub “it is now ok for you to allow the door switch and sensor to operate”. The front and rear antennas are wired directly from rf hub C2 connector straight to the antenna connectors. The door antennas are wired from the C2 connector to the inline body connector at the bottom of the b pillars where it mates with the door connector then the wires pass through the rubber boot into the door then to the antenna. So to do it like factory you need to find the terminals for both halves of the body/door connector so you can populate the connector on both sides. Same situation for the front doors for the handles. Auto techs harness just has you bypass the body/door connectors and pull the harness straight through the rubber boot. They also offer the rear door handles by just tying them in with the front door handles on each side, so the rf hub just sees the rear handles as front handles.

Now onto the rf hubs and being able to enable it with the alfa. The 68319677AD hub is definitely not capable of keyless enter and go. I had the same info as chrisbh17 and thought it was, so I enabled keyless go on the alfa and the rf hub threw a B2204 fault (mismatched feature detected on the rf hub). So now I have all the correct parts ordered and on the way. All the harness parts should be here Tuesday although I am unable to find the connectors for the door handles, so I’ll figure something else out for those. By the way @chrisbh17, the handles you need (white body color with chrome) are 1UJ881W7AH Passenger, 1UJ831W7AH driver.

The next problem I think I’m going to have is, I don’t think the alfa is capable of doing a new rf hub replace with new fobs. Both people that we know of from the alfa thread that have tried to add remote start on a pre-2017 (new fobs and new hub) have failed. One of them said it was asking to perform the secret key procedure. The service manual says that when an rf Hub is replaced, the wiTECH will “pull the secret key information from the pcm and transfer it to the new hub”. I don’t know if the alfa is capable of doing this (maybe it can’t because the pcm is locked?), but I’m willing to try until I render my truck inoperable, at which point I’ll just take it to the dealer. I’ve already talked to a tech at the dealer, and he said while he’s never had a request like it before, he’s confident that as long as the keyless enter and go features are turned on by the alfa (they are unable to add those sales codes on my tradesman) and all the hard parts are there, he can perform the rf hub replace and program the keys.

If I can make this happen and it’s feasible enough (so far I’m all in for ~$475) for anybody to do, hopefully without a visit to the dealer, I’ll post a detailed write up on it.

Great info. This all will be great ... btw where did you get the door handle part #'s from. I like to get the chrome ones with the burgundy color pieces for mine

Allmoparparts. If you search the front door, it will give you a running list of all the door handle features and color combinations and part numbers.

Did you order factory harnesses or are they being custom made? To me it looks like the main wiring harness in the truck needs to be modified, the for harnesses can be completely replaced or modified and then there is a jumper from the handles to the new/modified door harness.

When looking for part numbers, sales code GXD and GX4 are what we need to look for. GXD is prox entry and GX4 is Keyless Go. That is helpful in finding the keyfob part numbers along with any other feature your fob might need (air suspension is SER, XBM is remote start). So for my 2017 the correct fob is part 56046956AG (XBM and GX4, no air suspension on my ride).

In my case I need a new RF hub (about 80), new keyfobs (about 90 each), I would do all 4 antennae because they are cheap (about 40), new WIN (about 60), 2 new door handles (about 200). Then comes all the wiring, Im not sure how much the harnesses would cost since at least a little bit needs to be custom. I could make them myself but then the project would never get done.

Not sure how you were at 475 but maybe we can figure that out later :)

This is all great info, keep us posted! I knew something was fishy with the rear handles. Not sure I want that kind of "hack" or not.

Even more research -

it looks like the main body harness does not need to be modified, if you have certain options. One of them is the power sliding back glass (which I have) or if you have rear defrost. There are others but that is what I see for my 2017.

The jumper harnesses for the front doors are available and fairly inexpensive (25 each).

What is NOT separate are the harnesses for the rear doors, which is where the antenna connect and mount to. They arent overly expensive (about 50 each) but would require pulling existing wiring out of the door and reinstalling the new harness. Not sure how much of a PITA that will be. I would think the only other option is running the leads for the antenna back to where they would connect to the main wiring harness using your own wire and (hopefully) the correct OEM connectors and pins.

And since the RF hub actually needs to be replaced, there is still the issue with programming. Alfa says you need to do FOBIK first, and the FOBIK procedure says to use 0000 as initial pin for a new RF hub, but Im not sure what/how a new PIN gets written when you finish replacing the RF hub (do you provide any pin you want? does it need to be the one from your original RF hub? etc)

I’m just building the harness as a separate add on harness, this way nobody would have to worry about what options they have. All the parts for the harness cost ~$35 shipped. The front door jumper harness would be redundant in this situation, and the connector on the end of the jumper harness is the same as the connector on the door handle, which I can’t find in stock anywhere. For the rear doors, I’m gonna be forced to pull the harness through the rubber boot from the cab to the door because the terminals for the connectors from the b pillar to the door are only available as minimum 1000.

As far as the PIN for the hub: what I do know, is that when the dealer programs new fobs AND a new hub, they use your existing PIN, and it remains the same after the new install.

Ahh OK, building all the things.

Keep us posted, as much as I say I dont need a feature like this, it sure would be nice to have! Interested in how all of your harnesses work, it does seem senseless to buy stuff that isnt necessary.

I will get the hub and the wireless ignition node and two antennae’s as a start .
Just need the 20 pin connector to start polulatung my harness etc

The connector changes from 2013-2015 and 2016-2018. Here is 13-15:RlytaCQ.jpg
Here is 16-18:FgjJeRi.jpg
I can only find the one for 2013-2015, but I THINK it will still work and lock for the 16-18s https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/TE-Connectivity-AMP/174910-2?qs=rraqY75DdlpSAFG/UhRalg==

This is the part number for 2016-2018: 2272006-1 (TE Connectivity?)
