As far as the radio unlock code from a dealer goes maybe I was just lucky with my local parts department. I just went there 3 times for codes. Once with a ebay receipt and twice with a receipt from LKQonline, I always took the radios, the paid receipts with the vin# of the donor and my reqistration. All 3 times they printed me out an Anti-Theft Code Request with the code and radio serial # from FCA. I don't have any special relationship with the dealer and didn't buy my truck from them.

After the last code for the UAQ I did show up the following Friday with 2 dozen donuts. lol

I figure the same price and I can use my iPhone for a quick scan and clear check engine light, why not! Just don’t forget to apply 20% coupon on the page before you add to cart

Yup! I added it! I like watching the dashboard when I drive, but my android tablet is too big. This will be perfect!

You found a good dealer, but you also went there prepared, which is more than I did...I called several dealers and they acted like I was trying to get missile launch codes, so I found other means to get what I needed.

Any chance this might let you reset the pin with Alpha?3cdb71763a601797383a407084d8d848.jpg

Not sure how I didn't know this but for those of us who have 2500's and where wonder about adjusting the fuel calibration for a little more accuracy we apparently have a 31 gal tank.

I commented earlier that I’ve installed two UAQ radios and neither asked for an unlock code. I looked at my original RA4 today with Alpha and the VIN was empty in the log that I exported. Might be unique to 2014 or my truck, but seems weird that my VIN isn’t stored in the radio. This may be why I haven’t needed an unlock code.

Too bad you can't get the navigation unlock codes for cheap

Recently there was an eBay seller with the NAV unlock code for $190. Map updates were $100. Look up Navi-expert-uk.

No. That is for FCA vehicles like the Chrysler Pacifica that have a key sense fob where you can set a max vehicle speed, whether or not the user of that fob can turn on or off certain features, etc. It’s similar to how other vehicles have a teen key fob.

I've noticed that I'm seeing the VIN in the radio empty as well (actually a sequence of null characters) on the 2016 VP4 radio that I put in my 2014, but I DID have to put in the security code when I installed it. I'm slightly concerned that if I try and update the maps, the missing VIN may cause an issue, but as everything is currently working, I'm also leery of trying to update it with Alpha.

When I got the unlock code for my radio, I had heard there were some people having issues getting them. My parts guy said as long as you have the bill of sale, they cannot refuse you. One of the few times I actually liked my stealership.

I think you would be fine if you updated your maps. I have a 16 VP4 NA in my 14 and I have updated the maps twice with no issues. I also had a 14 VP4 NA at first and updated the maps in it as well. I had to enter the security code when I installed both of my radios. I'm not sure what the alpha is reading or why it's not picking up your Vin# but I definitely wouldn't try to update anything with the alpha tool at this point. If the radio wasn't reading your Vin# it most likely wouldn't have asked for the code when you installed the radio.

It’s possible that when you enabled the DRL settings that they are there, but defaulted to off. Since you don’t have the customer program setting available to turn them on, try this- instead of going into car configuration change, go into program customer features. Enable daytime running lamps from in there, and see if they turn on.

Ok just took the kids to school and I was behind a dark ram and I saw my DRLs on in the reflection. So what it does is the lights go off when in park and on as soon as it's in gear.

Yup, that is how they work. They are on in D, N & R.

Rick,
Could you check and see if Alpha shows the VIN in your radio?

Yes that is exactly how they work. They will also go off when you apply the parking brake.

I would be surprised if it shows up. I normally don't go poking around too much when everything is working ok but the next time I get my truck I'll try to take a look and see what it says.

If you have installed HID (with all the accessories like capacitors and what’s ever...) in your truck and they work great, is it then useful to use the HID settings ? Or just keep it standard?

Same for the LED, if they are canbus compatible etc....should I set the settings to LED instead of standard?

I still have all the relays on my HID's, some day I'll eliminate all that stuff.

Theres a few videos in this link below that show the effects of PWM on the led lights, before and after alfaobd

Which setting do you use with your HID as long as you have all the stuff like capacitors etc...? Standard or HID?
