what do you expect them to say, um yeah our **** sucks, lol. Nobody excepts resposibilty for themselves anymore, manu's even cheat gas mileage numbers with never so much yeah we did that until they go through court. I could go on and on, but bottom line the truth is no matter what you buy and what it cost, you bought a project. So guys should consider buying old trucks (now 4 gens) and fix all the weaknesses right, and you will save a ton of money over a new car, and it will be right. All this cam ****, bearing ****, internal ****, I don't remember any of these things with old windsor engines, and I was in those forums forever still am. Is it an oil thing, or a manu thing? All those old Fords took 30 and 40 weight.

Now it is ten times worse, because it isn't an oil thing or a manu thing, but a serious risk built into di turbo's the future of all trucks, and pre heating fluids all over the place. So think old, as in the last generation, doesn't have to be 70's and ****, just like 10 years maybe 20 years old, and fix it up. 1995/6 f150 maybe 3-4 grand, new 351 windsor with transmision with updates, 12 grand at the most. Maybe drop 3 into suspension, maybe 2k more in wheels, and you are looking at 20 grand that will be bullet proof. Or even 4 gens, pre 8 speed, prces all over the board. There are deals to be had. Get something in that ten grand range, now trans upgrades rfe will cost you, so ouchy on that, but you wont have to replace engine, maybe set aside money for a cam, the same 22-24k will buy a ram instead of a 90's ford, same result, it will be built to last.

Of course keep in mind I live in a state where there is minimul rust issues, but I wouldn't buy new **** again unless it was an HD and unless I was satisdied on the quality. But when you see the same transmison from an aspen in the cummins, I doubt I would opt new. We have to take our collective education about these trucks into consideration before buying and supporting the ******** tech these assholes are putting in these truclks. I'm greatful for everyone's contributions from oil formulations to researching the in and outs of these rams, we have to stop supporting stuff we don't appreciate. I guess the option is buy a lifetime warranty and follow the book to a t and keep records. But my guess there are more holes in those lifetime warranties then we ever know. If you think about it, there is no way they can actually deliver what they say if those warranties were used they way everyone wanted to use them, as in a true lifetime purchase. As in you buy one truck for a lifetime, and expect that warranty will fix anything for your entire life, for what 2500 bucks? I have a real hard time trusting any warranty company like that, that they would be there no matter what ten, twenty, thirty years later.

Burla, great post! What you suggested, I pretty much did. Last July, I bought my truck already set up with most all of the mods in my signature already done. The truck has 150K on the clock, but is rust free, interior is like new (had Wet Okole camo seat covers on it), and for a lot of it's life was fed RL 5w30. The engine runs quiet, and really strong! Wasn't happy with how the transmission shifted, so I had a performance rebuild done using heavy duty and Trans Go parts along with a new torque converter. This cost me $3500, in addition to the $13K that I paid for the truck...to me well worth it. When the engine needs it, it will also receive a performance build. The truck doesn't get driven in the Winter (salt) either. I plan on keeping this truck for a long time.

I had a warm day, long trip, was sitting at a stop sign and had evic set to trans temp, the temp went up 5f while at a stop sign. Those torque converters must build up heat when they are used to keep the engine off stall. I bet if I was in nuetral that wouldnt have happened.

My FCA lifetime warranty clearly states if the cost of the repair is more than the value of the vehicle, they pay the value of the vehicle and the warranty is ended.

From My Post 28480:

In case anyone was wondering about Red Line CV2 Grease, I emailed to be sure it was compatible with the lithium complex grease in my trailers' wheel bearings, and Dave answered:

Thank you for contacting Red Line Oil, the CV-2 is a calcium sulphonate base and is compatible with a lithium complex base grease.
Dave is awesome [emoji106]

Tell me about it. All the front end parts on a 1500 are disposable. 0 grease fittings anywhere. Ive thought about just replacing everything in the front end with high quality greasable units now that my truck has hit 50k...
Me too ...errr
This is why I went with the greasable Mevotech UCA's [emoji106]
