New to this forum. 3266 pages, I'm brave but I have my limits, I can't wade through all this!
So, my problem, I'm hearing a dry, rasping, ticking noise in my brand new 2019 ram with hemi 5.7. It has done it from the day I purchased it. It does it immeidately upon startup, hot or cold, and is always there (even after hour+ of running). It gets slightly worse under engine load (climbing a long hill). I made a video of it here (please click the little "sound" icon in bottom right corner of video player to turn on the sound). Note how the engine starts, and then about 1.5 seconds after that a new sound appears in the video, that raspy/ticky noise is what I'm referring to.

@Burla, I found you on the "bobistheoilguy" forum discussing this and found your arguments very persuasive.
I did a search for you specifically on Google after that, bringing me here. A big thanks(!!) to you and the others who are attempting to shed light on this. I don't know if my particular noise is the infamous "hemi tick" or if I have an exhaust leak (brand new truck with < 3000 miles?) or something else, but I'm just trying to fix the tick and make it go away.
So from what I understand; you guys are recommending a test of "red line 5w-30". Couple questions (and please bear with me if this is already mentioned in this very long thread):
1) this oil probably voids my warranty (due to 5w-30 instead of 5w-20), right? Or does it meet the exact standards for this engine?
2) What about the accompanying oil filter, what is the recommendation there?
3) I also live in Canada, we get cold weather at times, 5w-30 is still OK in the middle of winter (-20 deg farenheight)
4) best place to purchase it online? I can't seem to find it in local stores here in Ontario.
For the warranty issue, my idea there is to try running the redline oil for about 4000 miles or so, and if it doesn't fix my sound I'll go back to the dealer oil. If it does fix it, I'll run it and just hope for the best, have to believe that getting rid of a tick is better (or at the very least, "not worse") for an engine than having the tick.
Again apologies if I'm in the wrong thread/spot, I'll gladly do some specific searches if there are details that someone can point me towards.
