Today I made my first RL 5W-30 OC @7701 miles. The truck doesn't have any ticks, slaps or any other unusual sounds. I just made a conscious decision based on the tons of information out there about its benefits for the C-L failure - especially this forum. The first oil change was done at the dealership @4600 miles, it will also be the last. Not surprisingly, they over tighten the filter as usual, but to my surprise, the oil drain plug was almost loose - just a bit over hand-tight. I grabbed a long handle flex head ratchet but I could have done it with my 13mm shorty combo wrench...that's pathetic, to say the least.

Planning to do a UOA @ 5k or so and will post results here. The engine does sound a LOT smoother and the oil looks like...well, Honey :)

Great decision imo Sir [emoji106]

I'd expect high iron and copper on your first UOA & the same untill you get 35k plus on your young Hemi , in fact I Believe 50k is the magic breaking in mileage [emoji16]

Maybe if I get piston stuck out to farthest point use brake cleaer?

It wouldn't hurt to see if it does anything for you. You can also use brake fluid on the piston itself once you get it to maximum extension to clean it and give it a little bit of lube without worrying about contamination. Could also bleed just that caliper a bit since if it ends up needing to be replaced or rebuilt then you might as well replace it's brother and bleed the whole system afterwards.

Question for anyone in forum especially Corey, anyway to fix a stuck caliper pisten in the brakes? It's been hung, took me a while to diagnose, long story. I was messing with it and got it better by doing a couple 4 corner pulls, but it's still hanging. Brake bleed entire system? It was likely contamination that when I compressed piston to get off rotor made it's way back up, someone in forum pointed out it is better to bleed brakes before compresing piston, but too late. I'm not sure that will help, but it might? Worse case I will have new fluid. Ideas?

If you thinking you might have contamination around the pistons causing them to stick.....there really is no good way to get it out effectively without taking it apart. Repeated brake bleeding procedures could do it but it also could not.....

I’ve never done it but it’s not complicated.

But once you take it apart you have to replace the seals so you might as well try and find a rebuild kit.

Just some rubber seals, clips, bolts and what not..

Amsoil makes a great filter , rest assured if you have any complaint about the Redline oil I'll be blaming it on that damn filter [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

its amazing how time and time again we are reading about dealers all around the country telling us our engines should tick. "oh thats normal"....bs. then why does it go away for so many of us on 5w30 redline? if the tick is normal, and redline makes it go away......what is redline doing that is making the motor run wrong? smh

“Normal” means the same thing as very common.

That is a completely different meaning than “ it is supposed to do that”.

So they are not lying. It is “normal”

I would never buy a hemi again. I don't know what options are out there, it may be buy a 1990's windsor and rebuild it.

Oh, I'm with you, but she had a Charger before, and loved the car. Happy wife, and all that.
She is currently driving a 2012 Acura TSX that has been(knocking wood)the most reliable vehicle we have ever owned. We have not spent five cents beyond very basic normal maintenance. Just browsing at this point.

in my opinion that would be a lifetime truck for tj, I doubt he will ever get anything better. And it seams like the 2500 plus are just a few years behind the CAFE 1500's in wenus tech, so literally these trucks right now as in 5 gen 2500's and up might be the last great trucks. we will see what ******** is coming.
