Why would you have gone back at all? If some dealership stole from me I would not reward them with continued business...
Confused...
I bought it there + I didn't know I could take it to a different shop. They ordered parts and cont setting up appointments. Just didn't know.

make up a nice sign asking for help to find a new dealer to look after your truck
as you are blacklisted from _______as you accidentally videoed them disrespecting your truck
and rummaging through your personal stuff
I am sure you will get some response
Good luck

How do we go about finding out which dealer you're talking about since several of us live in the area? There's only Hoover and Hendrick AFAIK so you might have to travel to find a good one. I let Hoover do my first and only free oil change on my previous RAM 4 years ago (when they were offering four free oil changes) needless to say I didn't go back except for warranty work on that truck. The truck I have now hasn't been touched by anyone other than myself unless something major happens that would be covered by the lifetime warranty. It would be nice to know who to avoid.

I wish I had a good answer for that. I just recommend taking out ur valuables, sunglasses, dash cam, and even loose coins. ALSO put ur wheel lock key in a visible spot.

Look at this sequence: I pull into the service bay line. After check-in a porter moves the vehicle to a parking area. A mechanic gets the vehicle from the parking area to the shop for work. After work is done, mechanic moves it back to parking area.

Dealer explanation of rummaging in the video is they were looking for my wheel lock key. Rummaging is heard from the service line to the parking area <---PORTER.

Question: Why is the porter digging through my things looking for a wheel lock key when porters don't do any work on vehicles whatsoever?

This bs got old fast. I'm just gonna take my stuff out from now on and hope my truck doesn't get slapped around in the shop. Also in the video, you can see my truck driving over speed bumps at full speed - absolute disrespect for my vehicle

Does it say what dealership it is in your video? Sounds like you could save some others around your area this experience by letting them know what dealer it was.

Edit- Sorry about the situation though, really sucks you can't trust anyone anymore. And dealerships and service departments wonder how they get a bad reputation.

Yeah ur right man but I'm gonna hold back + I took the video down. Not a pity party at all. They were in the wrong and they know it. Guess all these customers at the dealership taking pictures and videos with their brand new vehicle is illegal too. I just try to stay on topic: Protect your belongings and be mindful of cameras.

GM explains - We don't allow recordings.

My questions - Do you have a sign explicitly saying recording is not allowed? Does anyone inform customers that recording is not allowed? Is there a document I signed acknowledging recording is not allowed?

Answer: Nope. Nope. Nope.

I my RAM and these guys are back there slapping my truck around. I'm done with this bs. Y'all are very generous with your time reading, responding + asking questions. Really appreciate it. How do you not miss this thing? It's literally right in front of ur face man daym.

Yeah funny you say that, I had to take a pic with my new truck when I picked it up. I showed as much enthusiasm for that as a cat shows for a bath.

Salesman acted like I won a contest, I did remind him that I had PAID for the truck, not WON it. Reluctantly took the picture and told him to "lose it"...it was never put up on their wall of customers so i'm guessing it did indeed get lost.

The whole recording thing seems like a gray area. Even if they didnt outright forbid it, I would expect something like that to ruffle some feathers, clearly it has at your dealer. But I do recognize that maybe they dont want to be recorded doing wrong and just use the privacy thing as an excuse.

Dealers have no problem posting signs saying they arent responsible for belongings left in the truck, etc. So why not post a sign saying recording isnt allowed?

Oh I'm totally on your side in terms of all of that, just adds to my already large distrust of dealerships and their service departments. I applaud you for putting the video up after giving them their chance, and wouldn't blame you if you put it back up with their name plastered all over the description. They are completely in the wrong and apparently take great offense when they get caught with their pants down, rather than the shame that they should feel. I've had to do the same thing after my 2nd ram purchase, had to publicly shame the dealership until they made the situation right, and I gave them a chance prior to doing that as well. Most of them are just scumbags and brush it away until the customer takes enough action, but I'm guessing most people don't fight the dealer very hard on things.

Also agree that it's pretty obvious the camera is there and should have been obvious to whoever was in it.

Have seen other vidoes like this from cars being at dealers service departments, or where they just flat out take cars out for joy rides beating the hell out of them. Those dealers deserve to be publicly shamed if they don't want to make it right when confronted with the evidence.

Around ten years ago, a TV station or network (don’t recall which) did an undercover investigation into unsanitary conditions in the Food Lion grocery chain’s meat section.

Long legal battle where Food Lion won a lawsuit against the undercover team and station/network for false entry.

There were counter lawsuits on the documented health and safety violations, but the take away was that clandestine recording in a private property is illegal. A business pretty much controls their own facilities.

I might have gone to the regional rep on that. The manufacturers do not want that kind of bad press, and would likely intervene on your behalf.

Great looking truck! It's unfortunate that we have these nice trucks that we have to worry about being messed with from the very people we buy them from. Big picture, it's pretty messed up but nothing new. I'd be real upset if I found my truck had been messed with or damaged, and if someone did that to my dog I'd lose control of myself, which only happens when someone pushes me far enough (not often).

Regardless of the legalities of it all, the dealer is wrong and is trying to get off on a technicality.

Of course it was all after the papers were signed.....

Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Flip it around...papers were signed, why is He still dictating Terms, to you, about your truck?
Ain't left the lot, dealer owns it until Truck hits public property with you controlling it.

Bottom line, No.
Blunt bottom line, Hell No.
