Lucky you didn't have the dealer do the wash (even though after a month they should have at the least), probably keep it another 2 weeks
Haha right! They'd probably run it thru a touch wash and scratch the hell out of it

I haven’t been on here for a while, just been driving back & forth to work. (Living the dream)

Over the last two days, I changed the oil, rotated the tires, changed the trans fluid & filters and today, I investigated an obnoxiously loud rattling noise coming from the passenger side step bar.

All the bolts were tight so I pulled it off and found two cracks in the body where the middle bracket was bolted. What the hell... I’m not sure how this gets fixed? That is, if it’s even fixable?

Also, if anyone has been looking at the black, textured finish, Westin HDX step bars... do yourself a favor and don’t buy them. Mine are rusting so bad it’s ridiculous. They’ve been on the truck for maybe 2 years now and there are huge rust bubbles coming up through the paint all over the place. I keep my truck washed regularly too. Cheap, Chinese steel I have to assume. Thanks, Westin.

I have a water pump, new bolts, thermostat & new hoses on the way. Just hit 175,000 miles, so, preventative maintenance is the name of the game. Winter is right around the corner.

FWIW there are 2 better options in regards to side steps, strictly based on the hardware:

1. GoRhino - they use "triangular" brackets which are basically just l-brackets welded together. 3 mounting points on each bracket, 2 weld nuts and 1 stud. The stud ends up through the top hole in the pic and the weld nuts go to the bottom. You do have to "fish" the bracket in through the top (wide) hole, but some jiggling and you'll get it.

2. Luverne - they make 2 sets of "side steps" for our trucks, one version actually mounts to the body mount locations (replace the stock bolts with their bolts, washers and backets). The brackets use a stud and rubber stopper type deal to then press against the frame so when someone steps, even if the brackets manage to move, they arent really pulling on anything. I like this mounting system much better so I got rid of my GoRhino steps and replaced with the Luvernes.

I bet you could probably adapt the GoRhino hardware to other brands, depending on what the step mounting brackets look like. Or if you're in my area you're welcome to buy my old ones :)

Fixed alignment on the high beams of my Modifystreet lights.

Put them back in and aligned them the way they should have been all along. I dont drive much at night so it wasnt a huge priority, but I finally broke down and dealt with it.

Next week....Corrosion Free undercoating.

Really like those. What brand?
They look like GEAR crossbow wheels

Yep Gear Crossbows 746B and got them from BB wheels.com for only 84 bucks a wheel was a steal and the perfect offset at +18mm for the 2500s. Was looking at methods but got those 4 for the price of 1 method wheel pretty much.

Got new tires....again haha. Soo they’re cheap! I got 4 for under 1k and it comes with a factory road hazard warranty. Not discount tire. After my federals turned out to be absolute junk I had to get tires. I’ll run em. If they get flat they’ll replace it. If they suck I’ll run em till after first of year and put some money down for something else. Have to get through the holidays. Took em out for a quick trip. Nothing crazy. Yup it’s a tire. I’ll see in the coming weeks. Americus Rugged MT. Made in Thailand by some he/she’s :anitoof: and a shot of my wife hauling home my now spare tires lol

Added the Deezee tailgate helper, replaced my radio antenna base, added an LED bulb to my third brake light and changed the setting in the BCM with AlfaOBD, removes the last part of the stock air intake housing that held up the passenger side front wheel well liner, removed some exhaust heat shields that were causing a rattle, added Alpharex/Modify Street polished black 2019 style headlights with HID low beams.

They look good I’ve never seen them before. You should drive them through the same place where the Federals crapped out and see what they’re made of. Only way to find out quickly if they’re going to last you.
