lol. there is that. i read the posts about cam lifter issues and think if i had to have those fixed i definitely would put some money into the engine mods while tinkering. when i had my victory i never got around to it, but the next step was a cam on a warrantied bike. there was very clearly dealers who supported all kinds of aftermarket parts and would fight polaris head office to the death to cover under warranty and those who were too busy moving on to selling their Indian lines. Unfortunately the one that I really wanted to work with was a 6 hour minimum ride away vs my local crap dealer being 30 minutes. any dealer wanted 6 hours at 130 an hour plus to do a cam job. but there were videos on how you could break apart the bike in the middle basically so you could access the cam without pulling the motor and do it in an hour. What became really popular in the earlier days of the Victory's was to go to one of the big bike rallies in the States and their were 3 or 4 guys in the country who would have their dyno trailers and a bunch of pre-ordered cams and other parts. these guys would throw cam parties and could replace a cam in 1 HOUR! that was the way to do it. unfortunately with the death of Victory seems to have come the death of the cam parties. these guys would do like 6-8 cams a day and everyone was happy. always loved the idea of riding to Sturgess with a stock bike then riding home with a cammed bike!
I guess I’ve never been one to worry much about modding a warranted vehicle. To hell with it. Live life, have fun and go as fast as you can. Nothing like a highly modded Harley baby.

Yes I understand. What other mods do you have on your truck? I think like most mods, it depends on what’s all done. My trucks pulls and runs like a bat out of hell but along with the Mopar CAI/Ram Air ducts I also have JBA Longtubes, Flowmaster Supper 44, Diablo Trinity T2 with a Jay Greene 93 octane tune and 3.92 gears on this 8 speed transmission. Next mod will be a Fastman 84mm Throttle Body. I will just keep adding stuff until it does make a difference. I’ve read and heard guys say the throttle bodies don’t add anything, but we will see because I want it.
Exactly on target. Also, keep in mind that to get a true "Ram Air" effect, you'd have to be going like mach1 (I'm sure I'm way over base here) to actually achieve enough forced air into the throttle body do anything. However, that is not what your trying to achieve. Just like the cars of the 70's using "Ram Air" (a marketing tactic) they too benefitted from a fresh cold air source for the intake vacuum because it's actually pulling air from a colder fresh air source and not being rammed in. I believe this is quite sufficient in accomplishing that, especially as you stated, it's to complete a whole performance package and not just a "stand alone" modification. Kudo's and way to go my friend in speed!

The only good thing about getting this Ram and doing all the things I've done to it so far (including the torqstorm supercharger that's on the way) is I stopped modding my motorcycle! My bike is a BMW K1600, finally got it about where I want it then this new money pit showed up on my driveway... The bike gets a lot less use because I just can't stop driving and listening to what is a dying breed in the wild, a straight header, cammed V-8 American engine.

I understand got so much money ******* in to modding this thing and I said I’m finally done with the bike, let me start on the truck. Toys can be expensive.

i'm hoping to dramatically increase my financial cushion in the next few years thanks to the sale of my share of a lake property. that will allow me to do more without concern. and yeah, having lost a small fortune in the financial crisis that i've never been able to recoup, i may as well have spent it having fun! lol.

yeah i don't subscribe to the wait until you're old too spend it theory. i respect that but when i got laid off and knew because of my age and niche profession i wouldn't be working for awhile, i took the opportunity to travel almost solid for 1.5 years and don't regret all the money I spent. i went all over the u.s., chile, mexico, turks and cacaos. it was an experience i will never forget. When i get the money i expect to get, i will give some to my kids right away. my son for university, my daughter to help with her first house. both are in their 20s, good kids, and if they are going to get some money from me anyway i see no value in waiting until much later in their lives.

I know this post is now a few months old, just bought our Ram and am wanting this set up, but I note the drivers side vent is real or functional with the holes in the back of the vent. Is that something you did? Does it effect the insulation under the hood? (water, air flow etc) Does it connect to anything (not apparent). I will be doing the airbox and vent for the passenger side, although I am in Australia and it is going to be a very costly exersize with freight and exchange rate.

the passenger side is the only one that is functional, drivers side is blocked off

It looked as though the drivers side had been drilled out, which I had seen on a Youtube video to let the air in, but I was also wondering if it was the case with this one and if it went no where I imagined it would have a detrimental effect on the hood lining. I would really like to have both be functional but that might be something I will have to engineer later.

that would be a lot of engineering, you're gaining nothing from the drivers side. plus all that air from the drivers side would escape before it even got to the air filter. the passenger side is routed right to air box and sealed off

I ran into an early 4th Gen at a carshow quite a few years ago, where somebody had made a beautiful custom stainless steel duct that was attached to the hood stiffeners and ducted the air from both scoops over to an aftermarket airbox that I think was an S&B box with-out the top.I looked around for the owner of the truck but never did find him,as the duct was a work of art,and it looked like there was a pile of time into making it and then polishing it. I've never seen the truck again, but it you have the talent to work with stainless or aluminium I would think you could fab up something similar. This was long before you could buy the Mopar duct kit

I would think leaving the other side blocked off would be better anyways but I would at least make the dummy duct port look functional.

Yes it would be a bit of work and it, of course, has to be ducted correctly with mind to water as the passenger side goes. But that will be in the future some time, too busy atm. Not that it's rocket science but I was sort of hoping that someone here has done the hard work already that was a bit more that tubing and duct tape. And I am certain that if engineers found a significant benefit there would be a very costly kit available to duct both sides but I will eventually do it to satisfy my own inner demons.
