The nipple is part of the oil cooler housing. I’m going to guess the nipple there is not to long but more of a seating issue with the adapter. Either not sitting flat or the o ring. In order to pull the nipple you would have to pull the oil cooler off.

Been several years since I had my adapter off,but I thought it was just a double threaded nipple CK,that just screws into the housing.I might be wrong though,as it's been awhile since I looked, lol. Who's good at looking up parts to see if it shows as a threaded nipple, lol

Now I almost want to go pull mine apart and pull that cooler off and get a nipple in there and just install an actual oil cooler behind my grill. Would probably keep the oil cooler.

Plan to add a thermostat to that oil cooler if you do.Something along either one of these wouldn't hurt to add into your engine oil cooler budget

Just had a peek under my truck (16) and noticed I do NOT have that oil cooler off of the filter housing.... so i would figure my transdapt kit would work... next oil change.ill have to try it out

I think I am going to do this and add an oil cooler. I like the looks of the Improved Racing stuff (www.improvedracing.com), I understand it's more expensive, but the quality looks worth it. When towing my 9,000 pound trailer, the oil temperature gets up in the 240°F or more region. I know that's not too hot for synthetic oil, but I would still like it cooler. The transmission oil temperature rarely gets above 200°F.

Got one last year and some anodized fittings and braided stainless line. Made a bracket with some stainless hardware instead of drilling and mounting directly to the frame. However, I've been lazy and haven't finished installing it.

that is why I swapped to the 3/4-16 thread and I’m running a royal purpl 30-8a. This filter is huge and a lot more pleating inside for more fluid flow.

That's what I've been running on mine to,lol. Back when I bought my set-up a few years back I bought the version that uses the more common 3/4-16 thread pitch, just because it opened up a lot more filter options 5 years ago,now I think they are fairly close on filter options whether you use the 22 X 1.5 or the 3/4-16 version though. I like the fact you can find a PH-8A style filter even in the middle of nowhere, lol

Thinking I might try the Fram Ultra filters on this one,as the trucks do for an oil change/kind of why I decided if I was going to go to the dual set-up nows the time to do it,damn 5W-30 Redline up here is s'pensive so I didn't want to do the oil change, then do the dual set-up in a 100 miles, and lose one filter and the oil it holds, lol

I run the fram ultra here and there. I think given how often we do oil changes one large filter is decent. Well for me. I also buy PUP through amazon. I just finished out my redline stock this oil change. Plan on going to 5w20 and 0w40 mix PUP. I do my oil change every 7500 miles anyways. Could do 10000 but i don’t trust that.
Edit: forgot to add that I can buy penzoil ultra for 23$ per 5qts on amazon with free shipping if I buy 2.

I'm more looking at the fact there should be less pressure drop across 2 filters then one. I did the first change on the wifes old 16 5.7 Challenger with PUP 5W-20 and the car wasn't really happy,it was noisier then hell actually,i only ran that change for maybe a 100 miles, then dropped the PUP out and filled it up with 5W-30 Redline, and the car was a lot quieter. I've always ran Redline in my last 2 Rams, and they both are quiet ,and when I did the cam swap on my 14 ,the cam and lifters still looked new,new enough they went into another truck with a flat cam,and last I heard that truck was still running good considering it's using my old cam and lifters, that seen 6,200 more often then not,lol

I got back to my leaking trans adapter kit today. This is a follow-up on my post from a couple of weeks ago. I tried to be very thorough. I've already pressure tested my 10 An braided oil lines on the bench. Made sure I got the oring seated properly on the block side adapter. Actually capped the fittings and started the engine for maybe 5 seconds, and no leak. Removed the caps, hooked up the lines and when the wife turned her over again....now it starts leaking from a pinhole in the bottom of the casting, so I'll be on the phone tomorrow with trans adapt.

That sucks. Hopefully they get you taken care of.

Followup. I called the contact number for Trans adapt and immediately talk to a very nice man. He asked me to send a picture or short video of the oil leak, which I was happy to do. He was very apologetic and said that was a very rare failure, and in fact he was going to share that short video with his support team. He shipped out another bypass casting today, and said I should receive it in a few days. Great folks to work with! They stand behind their product.

awesome!! on a side note a easy way to have no mess is tin foil.. I wrap anything that might get oil on it with time foil and even wrap the little plastic oil catch In tin foil so when I am all done I just peel it off and throw it away.. and no oil mess left to deal with.. I learned this with my crotchrockets.. got tired of getting oil on the exhaust pipes.. works like a charm! Nice write up though.

I also use the tin foil method and it works like a charm!

I have a 4000 mile round trip planned and I'd hate to stick the wrong filter on and have issues.
