Found the attached picture in the linked power power above. Says 8.5 qt dry fill.

That won't include the cooler or lines, but should include the convertor. I'd think the cooler and lines should take another couple quarts or more. If you were real **** about getting all the old stuff out,you could disconnect the cooler lines at the rad and flush the cooler with an old school syphon style wash gun with the pressure backed down to 30psi.I did that when my 8 speed went south, but the tranny was out on the ground,so it wasn't that hard to get at the lines to flush them or at the cooler to flush it.But you'd have to be **** as hell to do it with the tranny still in the truck, the cooler you could flush easily enough, but disconnecting the lines on the top of the thermal unit so you could flush them would probably make you swear, lol.

My Mustang with the 6R80 stays around 200 in the summer.
I don't like it but I don't think there's anything else to do besides a $800 bigger tranny cooler. uggh

if it (the Mustang) has shutters like our Rams , on my Ram i removed all the shutters except the top and bottom and it brought all my temps down.

On my Ram Penta star, I was seeing highway temps at 85 ambient up to 235 before the shutters opened. I also removed all but the two, and now the numbers are more what I'm used to. I'll lose a tenth of a mpg due to decreased thermal efficiency in favor of cooler temps letting everything last longer.

No, they don't have shutters. I do have a 180 thermostat on it but the trans will still get in 200s.

I need to do that on the truck then if it makes that much a difference.
I will admit, it is nice in the winter time since the truck warms up fast. So I might put them back in during that time.

Getting the trans to run cool was really easy. Just some research first. I made a device that accomplishes the same thing as the Revmax kit but is easier to install and remove if you felt so inclined (cheaper, too). I sold 10 of them to users here and on Facebook, currently I don't have any in stock but if interest rises I'll likely make more.

caulk04 , I would have an interest . What kind of money are we talking , what is included, and how soon could you have me one? Currently I am at 23k - 24k miles . So I am not in a big hurry but would buy it none the less so I could do everything at once. PM me or let me know here publicly. Thanks

It really doesn't make much difference in how long it takes to warm up. That's a function of the thermostat, water doesn't circulate through the radiator until it reaches 190 degrees. I have heat pretty quickly even with the smaller engine. I just didn't like the 220-235 temps. I'm old school, now it might hit 210 after a long idle, but driving down the road is 190-200.

Here's a link to a basic instruction list I wrote up: https://www.ramforum.com/threads/8hp70-heater-bypass.172998/page-5#post-2444864

Here's also a picture of just the item I'm selling:

Always best to confirm stock first but right now I have three that aren't they spoken for.

Thanks I sent it . Just send it out at your convenience. I am in no major hurry. (yet LOL ) Would it play into my hand to also do a 195 degree engine thermostat? I have already supercharged it and added a LS diff. I also am not running shutters.

I wouldn't bother with changing the coolant thermostat for anything trans related, but it could help slightly to keep spark knock away if the coolant was a touch cooler.

If you're boosted you should probably drop down to a 180 thermostat.

Yeah, true.

I just noticed my new truck gets up to temp really quick even on the cold days we had last month.

My 09 took a while to heat up. Maybe is because of 180 T stat(tune adjusted fan temps) and no shutters but it took a while. The heater did seem take a little longer to warm up or the new truck, but it didn't bother me much .

Full flush took every bit of 9quarts just to get it full, I scarified a quart to make sure everything was flushed, then need an additional quart to adjust level based on ZF procedure to be full and adjust for spillage.

So I wouldn't suggest anything less than 11 quarts for a full flush unless you don't sacrifice a quart just to make sure., then you can do 10

how did you do the flush of the system? I ended up doing a drain and fill 3 times to try and get most of the old fluid out.

I have the RevMax kit installed so I disconnected the top line of the transmission cooler lines coming into the AC radiator and then used the transmission pump to push out the fluid. Just start the truck up and it will start to come out of the line into a bucket.

If you don't have the kit you need to get the transmission fluid up to the thermostats temp (180ish) and then it will dump fluid out the hose since the bypass becomes fully closed and routes to the cooler.

After that you let the truck idle for 10-15 seconds and shut her down. Go in and refill a few quarts into the transmission pan to replenish what came out and repeat until about 9 quarts are out or the fluid becomes clean.

Button her up and do the ZF procedure for checking fluid level.

Some will argue that this way of doing it isn't good and could cause problems, but I have done this for many vehicles with AT over the years and has been fine.

Caulk 04 got his valve to me super quick. I can confirm that it also fits the 8hp45 behind the Pentastar, and makes a big difference. This is after about 35 minutes of driving on back roads, with some 70 mph plus shots. IMG_20210321_144748.jpg

I just tired to get the black plastic cap out. It would not move.

Did yours come out easy?

Is the tranny warm or cold, which ever way it is,try it the opposite way,if it's cold take it for a drive and get it warmed up,if it's hot,let it cool down for an hour or 2. It might help to take a sharp pick and run it around the edge of the cap to help knock any crud off that might have built up.Mine gave me a bit of a struggle, but with a good sharp pair of side cutters and after running a pick around the outside edge of the cap i was able to carefully grab onto the tit enough to work the cap out.
