I found something new I haven't seen in a menu accessible from the radio itself (I don't think). It's a "loudness" effect for all radio audio that can be turned off and it works/sticks by using AlfaOBD to connect directly to the radio and modifying the current ECU settings. The difference is noticeable for any audiophile's our there with an 8.4...default is "enabled".354a9e5792d090ac61e8c9215dc34276.jpg

Nice find @SitKneelBend , I changed that setting today and it is a keeper.

I used Alpha obd2 to turn on DRL lights on my 2016 Ram express/tradesman 1500 and now my courtesy lights inside the cab Do not illuminate when I open my doors and the auto door locks do not lock when I start driving. Any one have an idea where I should look?

For the non-RAM viewers, I tried this on my 15 Hellcat Charger. No joy.

Mine only gives me:

ECU Reset

Nice find, though.

To be clear, I did this on a 2018 UAQ so its possible its only a setting for the newer 8.4 radios.

Hey guys. This may be a little late, so I suppose it is for future reference. I have been using VeePeak OBD II Bluetooth adapter with Alphaobd for several years now and I have not been let down yet. I bought it off of Amazon and I believe I paid a whopping $14 for it. Not a thing wrong with it. Everything from simple changes such as tow mirror signals to RF hub reset.

Wish I would have known that last week..lol

OBD mx has been fine though.

Could not find this anywhere. So I took a chance today in alfaobd and had success. So I thought I'd post it here.

Hi,
Haven/t found an effective way to search this thread, but I am trying to find out if Alfaobd will allow me to initiate a regen in my 2018 2500 cummins truck?

Thanks

Hello all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm having issues with my MOPAR integrated trailer brake module. I installed it a week or so ago on my 2015 Ram 1500 Express Quad Cab and flashed the BCM with alfaOBD. The settings I changed were:

Trailer Selected CSM = Yes
Trailer Type CSM = Yes
Trailer Name CSM = Yes
P/T Chassis Net: ITBM/HWM Integrated Trailer Brake Module = Enabled

The truck has the 8.4 UAQ radio kit from infotainment installed. In the settings menu, after flashing with alfaOBD, there's an option labeled "Trailer" (not "Trailer Brake" as I see some others have on theirs). I click it and can select between trailers 1-4. In each of those, if I select "Use This Trailer," the checkmark will appear and quickly disappear with a ding ding sound. I can't change any of the trailer settings or braking options.

In my 7" EVIC it says "Trailer Brake Not Connected" and squeezing the manual Trailer controls or trying to adjust the gain does absolutely nothing. The gain is stuck at 0.0 in the EVIC. The gain control buttons on the center stack are lighting up with my headlights on, so I know it's connected. I have checked the 4 and 10 pin connector on the ITBM itself and they are all connected - snapped into place.

When testing with an Innovative products 9107A Electric Brake Force Meter w/ dynamic load simulation and circuit testing, plugged into the 7 pin Trailer connector, it shows all lights functioning properly and detects the ECU but no power from the Trailer brake system. The EVIC also still shows "Trailer Brake Not Connected" while the tester is plugged in.

Below is my system ID, pulled from alfaOBD a couple of minutes ago.

I do have a Pulsar "tuner" Module installed on the PCM in the engine bay. I love the way it makes the truck drive in performance mode, and turns off MDS. Would that interfere with any signals trying to bounce between various computers?

I'm at a loss as to what is happening. As you'll see below, I tried monkeying- around with the "Trailer Tow Present" option but changed it back to "Yes" since it was on originally. I'd rather try to DIY diagnose and fix this because the dealership option is expensive and I have the tools. Any input is appreciated! Thank you!

I'm new here but just a guess on your issue.

Performance mode and Tow mode are either/or. The performance mode might be disabling your trailer options.

It works on my 2016 so I assume it would on a 2018? Just know that you cannot have any active fault codes or it will not start the process.

Is that the VeePeak mini? The "mini" is selling on Amazon for 12 - 16 bucks, but the un-mini one is about 30 - 40 bucks.

Unless your trying to resolve an error/CEL there is no reason to.
If you look in the engine controller there is a stationary desoot option. If I remember correctly the coolant needs to be above like 150°F and it may take upwards of hour to complete.
If you short drive the truck a bunch, your better off going on the highway for an hour or so. Even better throw a thousand pounds in the bed or hook an enclosed trailer up while your doing that, that will clean things out and probably burn the same amount of fuel.

For the EcoDiesel trucks there is both a stationary and next drive cycle options for forced regeneration cycle options in AlfaOBD.

Thank you for this info, it is very helpful. I live in the city and have to commute east - west. There is few options for people as the highway is the only way to get to all the towns outside and to get to the urban sprawl areas, so what's takes me 15 mins prior to rush hour becomes an hour, hour 10 during the drive.

I live in central Canada so the outside temps are brutal for these vehs, as they are barely warmed up by the time I get home. So trying to deal with a regen that starts when the truck wants it to, when it usually very inconvenient for me (during rush hour) doesn't make sense to me. Every 2nd weekend I travel 200 kms Fri and and again on Sun on reasonable roads.
As the regens never to seem to line up with my driving conditions, I think it would be better for all, if I had control of when they are initiated.

I tow a fifth wheel spring, summer and fall and an enclosed trailer in the fall for about 4000 km, I have no concerns about how regens are occurring during those activities.

I had a 2016 EcoDiesel for 2 years, the first year I lived in the country so my 40 min commute was pretty much all unimpeded highway, so didn't even know regens were happening as I never seen the soot msgs pop up. The second year I moved into the city about a 8 - 10 min city drive to work. In the winter I always had a problem with soot (way worse then the 2018 Cummins) would have killed for the ability to choose next drive cycle during my 400 km trips every 2nd weekend, instead of having to deal with it at an inopportune time.

Thanks again

Thank you. I don't usually have active fault codes, but noted. It is $270 plus the cost of an android device for me, so it adds up quick, and give me hesitation to buy if I am not somewhat confident it does what I need; measure soot level's, monitor EGT temps and most importantly, initiate/force a regen on my terms (when I am on country roads, not stuck in rush hour traffic).

Thanks again.

I was never able to get it to work on my 2020 3500 SRW. Another member on another forum tried to get his dealer buddy to enable his and they could not. Also a 2020 FWIW.

AFAIK, it can only be enabled on C&C trucks (19+)

Sorry, can't say definitively on the 2018.

I believe they were referring to having AlfaOBD itself initiate the regen while connected to the engine module, which it can do.
It would be nice, though, to figure out why the menu setting in the EVIC won’t show up on the 2019+ HD pickups like the C&C has.

That's what I used to use too. It worked for everything but mileage/hours correction and certain things that required it to intelligently switch how it connects to certain modules.

For monitoring the soot and EGT's etc I found the Torque Pro app works great for that, it has a better interface for monitoring those things I think. But it will not perform functions like regen if you need that. I use both. Torque pro is $5 so might be worth a look once you get your android device.

The reason I brought up the codes is if you get a DPF fault of some sort and want to force a regen to see if it clears it, it won't initiate until the fault is cleared. I had an issue with my DPF where it would not regen on it's own and threw a fault. It would not allow me to manually regen until I cleared it (ended up resetting the DPF as if it was replaced with a new one).

Hey guys, I have a 17 ram 1500 sport with factory projector headlamps. I bought morimoto elite 35w (xb35) HID kits for my lows and fogs. I only hooked up the bulbs, ballasts, and ignitors to the truck. I am not using any relay harness, mopar harness, resistors, or anti flicker modules. I enabled hid headlamps, and led low beams to get the low beams to even turn on. I enabled led fogs to get those to turn on as well. They seem to work best when the engine is running? If I leave ignition in run position and engine off, the fogs will flash on and off on each side. The headlamps do work intermittently as well, sometimes both work fine, and sometimes only one side will come on (alternates sides). Bi xenon is enabled, both led fogs and lows enabled, hid headlamps enabled... I've tried enabling high beam leds as well just for kicks. I read somewhere in this thread that the "target voltage" needs to be set? The only parameter I could find for low beams was "CBC Extern. Light Calibr.: Left (or right) Low Beam Voltage Regulation"... this was set to 14v and I tried changing to 13v? Not seeing much else that would affect them. This is driving me nuts. I am about to rip them out lol
