Hey guys. I need help. I am looking to buy a 4th/5th Gen wheels for my stock 1998 Ram 2500 4x4 V10 with the stock 16" steelies. I am looking at the newer 18" 6 spoke alloy. I raed somewhere that it will not fit because of the rear hub??

There were 3 different wheel specs for that truck in a 16" diameter:

6.5x16 +19mm offset, 8x165.1 bolt circle

7.5x16 +31mm offset, 8x165.1 bolt circle

8.0x16 +43mm offset, 8x165.1 bolt circle.

Now we need to know what year truck the newer wheels came off of. But here's some information that may be helpful. You'll just have to get some details from the seller.

Early 4th gen 2500 wheels were sized as 8x18 +43mm offset, 8x165.1 bolt circle. This spec covered both the gas and diesel engined trucks. You'll note that this spec matches the 8.0 x 16 wheel spec of the V10 powered truck.

In 2012 up to 2018 the 8.0x18 wheel had the same bolt circle but the backspacing changed from a +43mm to a +57mm offset which is a difference of 0.55 inches. So the inside of the tire will be that much closer to the inside of the wheelwell.

So you you need to know the width of your current wheels to determine the offset of your wheels then go measure to see if you have an additional 1/2" of space inside for the later 4th gen wheels from 2013 on.

Good luck!
