So, I'm planning on installing a remote oil filter adapter on my '14 with the 5.7 Hemi. I've already bought the Transdapt kit (long ago enough that it's not returnable), I'm just debating on how to do the hookup and looking for opinions on the subject.

I see three possibilities:

1 - Buy some good hose clamps and use the fittings and hose the kit came with. (cheapest)

2 - Buy AN10 fittings and use the hose it came with (a number of folks in other threads here seem to have done this, although I thought you needed special hose to go with AN fittings)

3 - Buy both AN fittings and hose and use those. (on par costwise with #2 as the kits I found are around the same as buying individual fittings)

Let the debate begin (settles back on the couch with a bowl of popcorn)

Following, definitely interested in how this goes for you.

My vote is get AN fittings and new hose. If the hose starts to leak or a comes off a fitting you will lose all your oil very quickly. IMO its worth the extra expense for better fittings and hose.

You will need specific hose for the fittings. I suggest an fittings as it is a better seal and braided hose is a lot heavier duty

Look your remote mount and engine adapter over for casting flash, and clean it up if it has any, doesn't hurt to round off any sharp edges slightly either, keeps oil flow up,and cuts down on oil shear. Then upgrade to 5/8" / -10 hoses and fittings ,and if your budget allows,do what BigSky did,use braided lines and corresponding fittings. Make a paper or cardboard template of the mounting bracket with holes and use it to transfer the mounting point onto the frame. I drilled and tapped the frame for studs,i used 3/16" ready rod to build the studs, but only cause i have lots of it laying around,if you have to buy ready rod,buy 3/8" and use it instead, if you decide to use studs to mount the adapter

Before i forget, "Out" from the engine adapter goes to "In" on the remote filter mount, and "Out" from the remote filter adapter, goes to "In" on the engine adapter,if you hook them up "in" to "in" and "out" to "out" you won't have any oil pressure.

Where are you guys getting your AN hoses from and how long do I need for the each hose.
There's a local place they makes custom hoses for industrial and high pressure apps. Not sure if they have AN hoses though.

Probably going to mount it where "indept" did. Seems like a good spot.

AN fittings and AN braided hose, all fittings and hose I used was Vibrant Performance from Summit. I ordered a 10ft piece and trimmed it to length with an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel.

Thank you.

Ok, I plan on using the Derale 15725 kit

Just so I'm clear on everything.
I need 10ANhose

I'm going to need 4 of these fittings

and Four of these?

Or should I get TWO 45* angled one for the adaptor that goes to the stock location?

Thanks

The Derale oil filter adapter comes straight down out of the block, so you might need two 90° fittings? I used two 45° fittings but my adapter had the output pointed towards the front of the truck.

Also the straight fittings will need to be -10 AN to male pipe thread (not sure what thread Derale uses), then use some thread sealant paste on the pipe thread side.

The Summit reviews of that Derale kit aren't all great, are you set on that kit? Especially if you're replacing the hose and fittings you might be better off grabbing an adapter and mount separate.

Oh, yes I went to Derale site and it say 1/2" NPT so good catch.

I think you are right. Defiantly going to need 90* fittings and another good tip on the thread sealant.
Thanks a bunch buddy

No, I'm not... I just looked at some old post and my buddy's wild one and crazy kit suggested the Transdapt 1127.. I forgot about that one.

Which one do you have?

I used Improved Racing parts, not the cheapest option but I wanted to do it once and not worry. I think most of the installed kits here start with the Transdapt one and replace the same parts you're replacing.
