My 2019 3500 is over 3 years old and I've never replaced the cabin air filter. I've noticed my 12 inch uConnect screen having more and more dust on it. What advise do some of you have?

Is there a particular brand, quality or hi tech material suggested?

the throw away filters for vehicles are all about the same filtering wise, you can find some that have carbon impregnated in them to help with odor, take your pick you won't notice a difference going with the cheap ones.
Another alternative would be to buy a washable K&N filter, just don't use the oil on it that is for the engine filter. There's a cleaning and refresh kit for the cabin air filter.

Thank you. Where might one find the carbon impregnated ones? And the cleaning and refresh kit?

The refresh kit is for the K&N oil impregnated unit which has a cotton filter media.

The carbon impregnated filters have a paper filter media and are not re-usable.

I get my cabin air filters from Amazon. I've have not experienced any additional benefit using the carbaon impregnated filters vs. the non-carbon filters. The real benefit to the non-carbon filters is that they can be $10 or more cheaper than the carbon impregnated filters.

Used to use these before the K&N from WallyWorld. As for the effectiveness of the carbon, on recirc mode, the wife didn't think it worked too well when the dogs would gas up the joint haha

Every 6 months, sometimes a bit more often if I have been driving in very dusty conditions.

I've been cleaning my cabin air filters with a shopvac crevice tool for years. If you're extra careful while R&R'ing the filter and careful while vacuuming, they seem to last for 2 or 3 years with biannual cleaning.

The carbon impregnated filters I've tried seem to improve the freshness factor for at least 7-10 days so for a couple of dollars more I've tried them out but I wouldn't pay too much more for them.

I tried a carbon filter and noticed the fan output was reduced slightly. I buy from Amazon the pc4579 by premium guard. I buy the engine filter too. Shows last I replaced was 12/2020. Lol. But I only put 5000 miles a year (maybe) on my truck.

Due to wife's allergies the cabin filter gets changed out rather often, almost every oil change.
And yes, having the carbon filter makes appreciable comfort difference for my wife.

So just replace it. If you can find a charcoal impregnated filter they’re a bit better, but shop prices.

I don't have one in the Ram, ( 14) , but the Honda CRV has one ,and when we still farmed, I changed it after she smelled something .
A mouse was making home in the filter.
Honda had been always doing the service as it was still on warranty, don't think they ever changed it. It was plugged , old looking.
I change it about yearly, but it is usually still clean. They are cheap to buy.
They are also the same guys that load tested a Honda battery under warranty still and charged 35.oo to test the battery. Last time I set foot in the place.

My 2015 Ram 2500 didn't even have a cabin filter nor was there a slot cut out for it. I had to use a dremel to cut out the slot. The filter I purchased had the cover included for the slot to be covered.
