I would humbly suggest that nuclear power does produce pollution and it is really nasty and dangerous and lasts forever. There is no free lunch when it comes to energy. Every method of energy has some kind of drawbacks. They are suggestions of a small modular nuclear reactor for Alberta to power the oil sands plants. The tree huggers are already freaking out about the mining. Put a reactor up there and see what happens. Anyone who has ever been to ft Mac Murray knows that there is not much there. If it wasn’t for the plants there would be very few people up there. There will be people who say that there has been people in that area for hundreds of years and it is true just not lots of them.

Technology got us here we need to use it to get us out. Not killing the economy because people still need to live. All the morons can fly to Davos to lecture us on how we are killing the planet. I the jets that they fly on are powered by unicorn farts

1) The amount of nuclear waste produced to provide me all the power I need for my entire life would fit into a pop can. It is nasty stuff, but the amount produced per person is so small that it is very manageable.

2) Of all the power sources, the number of deaths per KWH produced is the lowest for nuclear. When nuke plants have issues they are all over the news because people are still scared of them, but even when there are issues the death toll is still relatively small.

I don’t hate Evs or their owners. They just aren’t for me and if the government wants me to have an ev they are going to have to give it to me because I ain’t buying what they are selling. Our current government has swilled the kool-aid by the barrel. Hopefully we will soon have a common sense government and boot the clowns out
Is there such a thing as the statement: Common sense in Government, hmmmm!!!

our economy was killed by the plandemic and government over reach. slowly coming back to normal in some areas but many goods are still twice the price and parts for some things still hard to get. kids and teachers here still recuperating from lost school year. now gov busy doing things to drive up the price of household appliances and the cost to operate them. many of us seniors are spread thin.

Lots of people in the east of Canada voted for jt and his cast of idiots. Alberta only has one liberal mp and represents Edmonton centre lots of left wing apartment dwellers. The traffic in Edmonton is horrendous because of the way they build the transit. You can have hundreds of cars idling waiting for a train

I'm for progress but I am old so I am also for keeping stuff that is still working. I'm happy with our gas furnace and we have a commercial size 6 burner gas cooktop that my wife would never want to give up.

If you build a nuclear reactor in northern Alberta you can put it far away from any people other than the people that work there. It used to be that they built the camps close to the plant. Now it’s is usually a half hour drive away. It’s not like any body lives up there fits McKay and Chipewyan are there they are very small and you would have to make some sort of special deals with them. I’m sure that there would be squawking but we have to work with it

Love cooking with gas. Got LP for Oven, but 22 year old glass/ceramic Amana cooktop for pots/pans.

And I just informed the the wife last week I'm tired of hearing the washer and dyer,we're getting a new set.....dammit man I can't catch a break.
Last year, I bought a midline Washer/Dryer Frigidaire set to replace my 18 year old Whirlpool set. It was just time. Watch which washer U get, as a lot of them got this pre wash/prefill spin cycle that spins clothes 16 times (spins left/right/left etc), before it even starts to fill. IF I would have known, I WOULD not have BOUGHT this washer. ALL the pre spin cycle does is BUNCH all clothes, or WHATEVER to one side. I literally have to interrupt water filling, and open top, and re-arrange laundry in washer. DANG, I hate that Option, but it is programmed into the washer. I can find no way to disable. ALSO, all the new ones got this auto setting where it only fills to a pre determined level by the "weight" and a setting you set on the washer. I swear, that lack of water IMHO not wash clothes well. I always use a cycle that I can hit the MAX fill button.

I am rural. I would hate to see my electric bill IF I had electric for heat. AS it is, my propane bill in winter is a Biotch BUT I went on a monthly budget plan so I pay same each month. Since I just started in Aug last year, pumping in more $$$ till I get the yearly amount figured out. Also run budget electric also, as U know I don't have to tell U about the temps.

AND I am old and 100% set in my ways also. WISH we had N Gas here, as be more convenient than propane, but alas, It is what it Is.

ADDED: Only draw back to N gas would be on my Genny. My 22 KW on LP produces 22 KW, but on N gas, not as efficient, only produces 19,200 KW and uses 3X the N gas vs propane to run. Hmmmmmm.

Hey you do laundry too, lol. Ever since my better half shattered her leg,i've learned to do the laundry as getting up and down the basement stairs isn't fun for my wife.I've noticed the same thing with the washer we had to buy a year ago to,it doesn't wash anywhere near as good as her 25 year old one did,so i've taken to double washing all the loads, first load i use soap/second load just water, otherwise it doesn't seem to rinse all the soap out. They can stick their high efficiency washer/dryers up where the sun don't shine,as i don't think having to double rinse everything is very efficient

Better half with a shattered leg - you're taking me back in time.

'2000 my Wife stepped out the front door and broke her leg. Compound fracture that all the surgeons said would put Theismann to shame (she had not idea who Joe was). After surgery, she was confined to a wheelchair for 3 months. We had 3 young kids, and a ranch with a walk out basement. I had finished the basement with a kitchen and "open room". I would wheel her through the snow to the basement in the AM, take the Kids to school, go to work for xx hours, reverse.

Fortunately, the Company was flexible. I worked split shifts to get my time in. Don't remember most of it.

The one thing I do remember is my better half instructing me on how to wash clothes. Her words were "You can't put those together and wash at that temperature". I was stupid and didn't listen.

25 years later and I'm still paying for that.

Mine was far more recent. Made it to 66 years of age before i learned how to do laundry in any way but by hand when out on the land. My wife dislocated her shoulder last Feb. Learned how to do the wash with a machine. By the second time it needed doing, had a housekeeper in place so I can't claim to have become very proficient at it. My wife did really appreciate me trying though.:angels2:

I think you have us confused with some other country. We are killing off good paying jobs and industries as fast as govt edicts can work. The only reason we may seem to be doing good things is a very biased media and running up our nations credit card well beyond the breaking point. $34 TRILLION in debt, and no plan whatsoever to pay it off or slow it down. That train is going to run out of track someday.
