:superhack:Truck was running rough so recommended he take it to Orielly's and get the code for it pulled. It pulled several codes but until he changed the egr valve and now it’s down to just the one code.
Code: cylinder 1 misfire
He replaced all the plugs for entire motor and 1 coil pack for cylinder one. Still running rough and the engine light continues to stay on.
- Could it be that a bad fuel filter would give a cylinder 1 misfire?
- If so how do we drop the fuel tank if the fuel filter is in the fuel tank
Has anyone had this problem before?
If so can someone please post a link as to how to get these issues?

thanks

Is this a hemi or 4.7L? I don't even think this truck has a fuel filter it is probably a strainer that sits inside the fuel tank attached to fuel pump. I would see if it is a coil pack. I know you said you replaced but try swapping with another that you know works maybe that replacement was DOA. I would check that wire to as I believe both 4.7L and Hemi have the two plugs per cylinder. Hemi always has and not sure what year they started it for 4.7L.

If its still on a cylinder 1 misfire could be the coil pack not being triggered, broken spring, injector could not be cycling or not being triggered. How does the plugs in that cylinder look now? Can tell if they are firing with no fuel or just getting fuel soaked. You could also check the main plug behind the intake manifold to make sure its fully seated. That shouldnt have been moved during the repairs yall made but its possible.

ok we will see about pulling out the number #1 cylinder coil pack and removing plug to see if it is burning fuel or being fouled

if its fouled..that would mean the coil pack is not firing

if its burning , how i would check that is pull the coil pack and connect the plug and while connected spark it on a bolt or something ?

(update) ...after taking it to the dealer to diagnose, they came up with an o2 sensor, so they changed it out and it ran ****y after that. we took it back for a second diagnostic and the outcome was a broken rocker arm bolt.

now the dealer said to try and find one at a salvage yard would be difficult with out purchasing the whole head...yea right.
for one bolt it has been in the shop for almost 2 weeks.

Dodge started the 2 plugs per cylinder design on the 4.7's in 2008. Hence, them being called the "mini Hemi"
