yes those numbers are out of a hemi... shocking huh?

MDS is the system Dodge used on the hemi between 06-08. It shuts down 4 of the cylindars when not needed (highway cruising) to get better mileage. Some people say it works, others dont. You wont see a big difference either way.

I might add steer clear of the 03's as they were the first year of the Hemi and are mostly unsupported by the aftermarket. I love mine but it is a pia to do anything with. My choice would be a 05 hemi in whatever body style you fancy.

if he's worried about gas mileage, he's probably not gonna be gettin into the mod scene guys which makes the 03 just as good as any other. passing up on one because you cant cam them as easy or change around the transmission settings is crazy. any of the 03-08 will be fine.

So 83 would ruin the motor I'm guessing

They make 83 octane? And yes. I only put 93 in the hemi. As to your mileage question, in the city I get about 12 and on the highway if I reset the calculator after doing 60-70 for about 3 miles and keep going long enough for it to lock in, I can get about 19

Low oct will normaly give you alot of knock in these motors. Some run on it some dont, best off using mid grade if you dont want to pay the extra for high test.

Probably 100 more HP than the 07 and older models. the 2008 4.7L stock has 310 HP.

2008 4.7 gets awesome gas mileage. I has one.
