Does anyone have any solutions to the tow hooks not fitting after a body lift?

Thanks,

Dan

Fab some brackets, and use the HD tow hooks that are 1000X more useful, and better looking lol.

Do the bumper slots for the hooks almost line up with the front of the frame after a 1.5 BL? I have had my stock bumper off for so long now I can't even remember what the stock alignment looks like.

Yes, It almost lines up. I'm sure I could get something fabricated.

Probably not the response you were looking for lol. You aren't the only one to have done this though, I am sure someone will pipe up with an actual solution.

I think he was giving a serious answer. With a body lift, you will have to do some fabrication for the tow hooks. Or you may be able to use some from another truck. On a ford, I was able to use tow hooks from a GM truck. Start looking at tow hooks on other trucks. You may find something that will line up.

That is why I asked about the alignment of the slot with the frame. The Ram HD hooks are a rectangular 4 bolt pattern that bolts to an adapter which in turn bolts onto the frame straight off the front. Granted this portion of the frames differ from the HD to the 1500 series, so the 4 bolt pattern probably isn't the same, and the bumper brackets will be in the way.

Just thinking about the way the stock hooks mount up though I don't think adapters for those are really possible. They would be taking some really odd loading if they were extended to hit the stock bumper pass throughs, and then go all the way back down to the lower frame mounts.

Auto Zone, and those types sell some aftermarket hooks that could probably be adapted pretty easily, or just welded directly to the front of the frame?

I'd also look around at tow hooks on other trucks. For instance, with a body lift on my old 2001 F-150 the OEM towhooks from a 88-98 GM 1500 bolted up directly using my OEM frame holes and hardware. They look like they were designed for a F-150 with a body lift!
I also know of a guy with an F-150 that mounted a set of heavy duty shackles to his frame after his body lift. You just gotta get in touch with your creative side! LOL
