When I got back from church last night the odometer read 99989. So its time for 100K maintenance on my 14 RAM Express.
Here is my list of items. Tell me if I'm missing any.,

  • transmission fluid drain and fill. (6spd auto ATF4+) (band adjustment too? )
  • replace both transmission filters
  • replace 16 spark plugs. (prefer NGK Platnums)
  • Remove clean and re-oil K&N AF
  • Engine oil and filter change (close enough to interval) Mobil1 5w30 Mobil1 filter
  • Throttle body remove and clean
  • Coolant drain and refill
  • Serpentine belt replacement
  • Replace pulleys
Anything else I should check?
Brakes and front wheel bearing were done last year.

Near future fixes. Would like to do shorty headers since my manifolds are leaking. Also an exhaust repair is needed. I backed into a stump I didn't see and mangled the right exhaust pipe. I managed to bend it back into shape but now it looks like sh*t.

Just my opinion but I wouldn't mess with the trans unless you have a issue burnt fluid slipping ect any time i flushed/changed fluid i have had vehicles start to slip or have shifting issues if it aint broke dont fix it.

I got 150k on my 11 I haven't touched the serpentine belt or the pulleys.

Definitely change the trans and service transfer case and the differential

I'd definitely do the transmission fluid, transfer case, front and rear differential gear oil.
Good point. I didn't think about the diffs and the xfer case.

What I have in mind is this truck lasting the rest of my life. If I take good care of it I'll be driving it when I'm in my 70s. I generally don't put a lot of miles on it. Oil change intervals come out to once a year.

Problem with that is if you have slipping and burned fluid, it is too late. Your transmission is broke. And what causes this? Lo line pressure can cause the clutches to slip. Also Tranny running too hot. This is usually the lack of circulation through the cooler circuit. Could it be from neglected filters?

Yeah the positive is that ATF4+ is a 100% synthetic fluid. It last longer than previous version but more concerning about filters. 2 filters to replace that have been in service for 6 years. You have to dump all the fluid to change the filters; might as well replace it all.

Replacing the serpentine belt is a 5 minute job so why not replace it. I would check the hoses too while you're at it although they're probably OK.

Hoses are a good thought; but I'll inspect them and make sure they don't feel mushy anywhere. The belt is making a bit of a squeaking noise. This could be just the wear on the belt or it could be a pulley on its way out. The goal is not loosing a belt or pulley when I'm on the road a long way from home.

Apparently you can remove the ABS sensors to grease the wheel bearings. I'll be doing it soon at 60k

hoses seem to be a area dependent item for me, when I lived in LV and So Cal, I would replace them every 3-5 years... weather conditions would wear them out on the out side... living up in PNW, i don't think I've change a set of houses in the 15yr up here... over 3 diff vehicles.
