My 14 lost heat last year. This fall I flushed the core, and it flowed beautifully, in both directions, but this winter, next to no heat again.

I'm at a loss. It does put out some heat, but only like 70degrees...

Thoughts?

It is Winter time

Have you closed the Recirculation Door
In the Closed position, no Fresh Air will enter the cab

the button below A/C button, the truck image button, closes & opens air flow

Going on nine years with this truck i have never used that button, and it boils me out of the cab all winter long if i want.

Im sure its the dreaded plugged core/casting sand issue that has been littering this forum recently. Although it could be a multitude of other things as well.

Maybe try flushing it out again and see what happens.

There are at least 50 threads on heat in the last few months. Read through those, you will find your answer.

These are just a few from the first page of 20 pages that show up when you simply search, heat.

heat - no heat?

Winter and cold in Western Canada!Heat level problems. When I start the truck and turn the level of heat up, only cold. After a while, 4 or5 minutes, I hear a door either open or close, then I start getting some heat. It take a while to get heat out of a 2004 cummins.I can not control the heat...

  • Heat

  • Hey you guys down south can quit sending your temperatures this way, lol. Normally we're around the low to mid 70's at this time of year, but for the next few days we're supposed to be in the mid to high 80's,some places not all that far away are supposed to be into the low 90's,which makes a...

    Blower motor, Now no heat?

I had my blower motor replaced over the weekend. I had my neighbor do the job due to recent left arm injury. After the install, there is no heat. The blend door doesn't seem to be moving to heat. The heat worked fine before the motor replacement. I replaced the motor due to erratic operation...

  • No heat in 2017 Ram 1500

I bought a 2017 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi with dual heat. I recently noticed that there is no heat coming from the vents. The fans are fine and function as expected. I replaced the thermostat, topped off and burped the coolant, checked the fuses, noted that both radiator hoses were hot, and the engine...

I think if i owned a 6.4 truck,i'd be doing cooling system flushes every 2 years,as it appears alot of issues are from lack of cooling system maintence.I'm wondering how many guys could of saved the cost of a heater core replacement,if they'd stayed on top of the cooling system with some maintence

cooling flushes every two years. now thats funny
Spend 8 minutes and watch this video .Cheaper and easier to flush the cooling system every couple years then it is to change the heater core.
BTW the 6.4's also have an egr cooler, little tidbit for you,it runs way hotter then the cooling system, and that could contribute to the antifreeze breaking down faster then it does in a 5.7

While you're at it watch this video to ;)
